On this Memorial Day, the Henderson-Henderson County Human Rights Commission pauses to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Their sacrifice reminds us that freedom carries a cost, and we remain grateful for those who served with courage, honor, and selflessness.

As we gather with family and friends this weekend, may we also take a moment to reflect upon and remember our fallen heroes and the families who continue to carry their memory.

Great Day Today In Henderson, KY! I want to sincerely thank the Henderson County Public Library, Henderson Chamber of Commerce, Henderson Economic Development, and Henderson Tourist Commission for hosting “The Henderson Hospitality Summit.”

The words of encouragement from each speaker were timely, uplifting, and deeply motivational. I was also grateful to bump into a few of my colleagues from the Human Rights Commission and United Way. Thank you everyone, for all you do to empower and enrich the lives of people in our community.

Our power is our people!

Led by the Administration for Community Living (ACL), the month encourages older adults to take an active role in managing their health, accessing preventive care, and fostering independence."

Today is more than just a celebration—it's a reminder of strength and resilience.

Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Battle of Puebla in 1862, when a smaller, determined Mexican army achieved an unexpected victory, symbolizing courage and unity in the face of adversity.

It’s also a great time to celebrate diversity—embracing the traditions, history, and contributions that make our communities vibrant and strong.

Let’s take a moment to appreciate different cultures, learn from one another, and continue building a world rooted in respect and inclusion.

Wishing everyone a safe, joyful, and meaningful Cinco de Mayo!
