Last night, we mentioned that the approaching tropical system was not forecast to give us much rain. Mother Nature decided she didn’t appreciate that tone. Our firefighters will welcome a slight reprieve from a busy month. Flood watch in effect until 7 AM Thursday.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

DON’T RISK IT!

Today along with several other local departments we were able to help save someone’s house from a growing and quick spreading wildfire. We were able to get control of it rather fast but it doesn’t take much scrolling to see across the state and the country all of the news of how unfortunately that is not always the outcome.

This situation likely will get worse before better so please be vigilant, no burning, no throwing your cigarette butt out the window, nothing like that, please don’t take that chance; for us, for your community and for yourself.

Huge thank you to Jo Ann Bundrick and Jan Boothe for the donations. We have a full fridge and more today thanks to these ladies.

Hydration is critical always but especially this time of year it becomes even more difficult and harder to keep supplies stocked. We always appreciate the help from our community.

🚨RUSK COUNTY BURN BAN IN EFFECT🚨

Effective August 4, 2026, the Rusk County Commissioners Court has enacted a Burn Ban for all unincorporated areas of Rusk County due to ongoing drought conditions and an increased wildfire risk. RUSK COUNTY BURN BAN EFFECTIVE AUGUST 4TH 2026.pdf

🔥 Outdoor burning is prohibited.

Exceptions include:
✅ Outdoor burning authorized by the TCEQ for public health and safety.
✅ Burns conducted by a certified prescribed burn manager in accordance with Texas law.
✅ Outdoor cooking in contained grills or fire pits is still allowed only if adequate fire suppression equipment is on site. RUSK COUNTY BURN BAN EFFECTIVE AUGUST 4TH

Please do your part to help prevent wildfires by following the burn ban and reporting any smoke or fire immediately by calling 9-1-1.
