Carlisle Volunteer Fire Department Carlisle VFD was organized March 17, 1977, as a result of the Carlisle School Fire, and the first unit was put into service on June 6, 1977.

Today, Carlisle VFD has fifteen active firefighters, two stations, and seven apparatus. Our department protects 104 square miles in western Rusk County which includes the communities of Price, Turnertown, Joinerville, Goodsprings, Bigsprings, and Compton. (Serving a population of approximately 10,000.) Aside from fires, Carlisle VFD responds to medical emergencies, hazmat incidents, and traffic accidents.
