🚒 **Exciting Updates from Epsom Volunteer Fire Department!** 🚒

We’re excited to share two major projects that are currently underway to help us better serve the Epsom community for years to come.

🔴 **New Engine Update**
Our new **E-One fire engine** has officially entered production at the E-One factory in Florida! The apparatus is expected to be completed over the next few months, and we look forward to sharing progress updates as construction continues.

🏗️ **Station Expansion Project**
Construction has officially begun on our station expansion project. A new **drive-through apparatus bay** is being added to the station to provide a dedicated home for the new engine and improve our operational capabilities.

These projects represent a significant investment in the future of emergency services in our community, and we are grateful for the continued support from our residents, firefighters, and local leaders.

Evening history. From Vance/Franklin County, here's Epsom's 1962 Ford/[Howe] pumper with "worn brakes and a capricious engine" that needed replacing.

Reported the Henderson Daily Dispatch on September 24, 1992, the department's fundraising program included an upcoming barbecue chicken dinner.

Fire Chief David Renn is shown, and said that their new "$122,000 C. W. Williams fire truck" was expected in January. And they still needed to raise about $100,000 for the new truck. The goal for the chicken sale was $2,500.

Tonight our members had the opportunity to sharpen their skills by working on hose advancement techniques and pumping operations alongside our mutual aid partners from Watkins Fire Department and Vance County Fire Department.

Training together helps strengthen our teamwork, improve our effectiveness on the fireground, and ensures we are prepared to provide the best possible service to our community when called upon. We appreciate the partnership and dedication of everyone who participated in this valuable training.

A big thank you to Watkins Fire and Vance County Fire for joining us as we continue to learn, train, and grow together.

🌀 Hurricane Season Starts June 1st — Are You Ready?

May is the perfect time to prepare your disaster readiness kit before hurricane season arrives. Epsom Fire Department encourages every family to have enough supplies to safely last at least **3 days without power.**

Helpful preparedness tips:
✅ Store your emergency supplies in a tote or waterproof container for quick access
✅ If you plan on using a generator, add a **carbon monoxide detector** to your kit
✅ Keep jackets and clothing ready for all weather conditions
✅ Charge phones and backup battery packs before storms arrive
✅ Keep important documents protected in waterproof bags or containers
✅ Know your evacuation routes and emergency plans

A little preparation now can make a big difference later. Stay informed, stay prepared, and stay safe this hurricane season. 🚒

The sky’s may be gloomy but our spirits are bright✨ this morning. Your Epsom volunteers along with help from our part time staff have successfully completed hose testing on the trucks this morning. This helps ensure that we are ready whenever duty calls.
