Brothers and Sisters,
I want to personally thank each and every one of you for your trust and support. Last week, I was unanimously re-elected as your Executive Secretary-Treasurer, along with my sister President Liz Sorenson, at our 69th Annual Constitutional Convention.
Four years ago, I made a promise to represent every affiliate, including those who did not vote for me. I pledged to work tirelessly to earn your trust through action, results, and unwavering dedication to Nevada’s working families. I hope that with this vote, you feel that promise has been kept and that the progress we have made together over the last four years reflects our shared commitment to the labor movement.
Thank you to every affiliate, delegate, sponsor, community partner, and our incredible staff who made this convention possible. Over the last four years, we have transformed the Nevada State AFL-CIO into a stronger, more powerful voice for working families.
We have stood on picket lines, rallied at worksites and the Capitol, fought for pro-worker legislation, and refused to back down when our rights were attacked. We now operate fully functional offices in both Northern and Southern Nevada for the first time in our history. We renovated our Carson City office, expanded our staff from one to seven, modernized our communications, and strengthened our financial stability for the long term.
Together, we launched the Labor Candidate Training Program to prepare union members to run for public office, the Organizing Institute to build skilled union leadership from the ground up, and most recently, Unionize Nevada - centralized portal to help workers across the state take control of their economic future and connect with the right union for their industry.
None of this would have been possible without your dedication, solidarity, and tireless fight to improve the lives of Nevada’s working families. The road ahead will not be easy, but I know that when we stand together shoulder to shoulder, there is nothing we cannot achieve.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your trust, your commitment, and your solidarity. Together, we are united. We are union. We are the Nevada State AFL-CIO.
