Information for property owners: Natural Shorelines Workshop June 23rd!
Next Tuesday, in Chaumont, NY Sea Grant will provide information on shoreline erosion management, remediation, and the use of natural and nature-based features. Additionally, NYS DEC and NYS DOS staff will present on relevant permitting programs. This session may be of interest to Town and Village representatives and/ or residents.

Waterfront Advisory Committee Members Needed!

Our community is developing a Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP) and is seeking dedicated volunteers to serve on the Waterfront Advisory Committee (WAC). This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of our waterfront for generations to come.

Reminder that the June normal town board meeting is scheduled this Tuesday, June 9, at 6 pm in the Town Office. An additional agenda item has been added, the Fire District Commission Chair will provide an update on the HFD EMS service.

The town is working on three overlapping focus areas:
1. Sewer District #1- The next milestone is the referendum vote scheduled to take place on Monday, August 10. This is a vote of parcel owners within the boundary of Sewer District #1. There is an information session scheduled for Tuesday, June 30 at 6 pm in the Community Room.
2. Revitalization of the waterfront- we have received a grant from NYS to develop a Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP). The next activities are to hire a consulting firm; scheduled to be approved in June, and form a Waterfront Advisory Committee (WAC). Stay tuned for more info on the WAC and how to volunteer.
3. Revitalization of the hamlet-we have applied to NYS for the NY Forward award in 2024 & 2025. We received very positive feedback on the quality of our application, unfortunately, we were not competitive relative to other communities in relation to private investment projects. We have hired a grant writing firm (LaBella Associates) to assist us with submitting individual grants that will help us with future NY Forward applications. In addition, there is a renewed focus on enforcing zoning requirements.
