🌟Employee Spotlight: Dwendolyn R. Floyd🌟
Head Start & Early Head Start FVW is proud to recognize Dwendolyn R. Floyd, our dedicated Education, Disabilities, and Mental Health Manager, for an extraordinary 37 years of service, leadership, and unwavering commitment to children, families, and staff.
Mrs. Floyd’s journey with FVW Head Start began 37 years ago as an Assistant Teacher. Through determination and a passion for early childhood education, she earned her Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education from Vance-Granville Community College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Administration with a minor in Family and Consumer Science, and ultimately a Master’s Degree in Education, all while working full time and serving the families of our community.
Throughout her career, Mrs. Floyd has faithfully served in many important roles, including Assistant Teacher, Bus Driver, Teacher, Center Director, Family Service Worker, Social Service and Parent Involvement Coordinator, and now Education, Disabilities, and Mental Health Manager. She is also a certified CLASS Observer and Affiliate CLASS Trainer, helping ensure high quality learning experiences for both children and educators throughout our program.
Her impact extends far beyond the classroom. Mrs. Floyd and her husband, James, have shared more than 43 years of marriage and raised nine children, all of whom attended FVW Head Start. The strong educational foundation they received helped prepare them for incredible success. Six of their children earned full scholarships to prestigious universities, including Duke University, UNC Chapel Hill, North Carolina Central University, and Winston-Salem State University. Today, they serve as principals, assistant principals, attorneys, corporate managers, and successful business owners.
For 37 years, Mrs. Floyd has brought knowledge, compassion, and excellence to every role she has held. Her passion for empowering children, supporting educators, and strengthening families continues to leave a lasting impact throughout Head Start & Early Head Start FVW.
