This month, our spotlight is shining on Engineer Travis Zimmer. Engineer Zimmer has been a member of HFD since July 11, 2022, but he brought with him a wealth of fire service experience. He has dedicated 22 years to the fire service and has also served as an instructor with State Fire Rescue Training for the past seven years. With such a strong background and commitment to the profession, it came as no surprise when he was promoted to Engineer in February 2024.
In addition to his role at HFD, Engineer Zimmer serves as Vice President of the Henderson Professional Firefighters Honor Guard. The Honor Guard plays an important role in supporting firefighters’ families during times of loss and honoring those who have dedicated their lives to the fire service.
Outside of the department, Engineer Zimmer stays busy operating his construction and handyman business, Firehouse Home Services. Most importantly, he enjoys spending time with his wife of 18 years, Valerie, and their 12-year-old twins, Karlyee and Dayton. As a family, they enjoy camping, hiking, fishing, and spending as much time outdoors as possible. He also serves as the assistant coach for Dayton’s baseball team and proudly supports Karlyee at her cheer competitions. His devotion to his family is evident in everything he does.
Engineer Zimmer, we appreciate all the knowledge and experience you bring to the department, as well as the selfless time and dedication you give to both this community and the fire service.

Last night at the 2026 Emergency Services Gala hosted by the Henderson Professional Firefighters Honor Guard, the Henderson Fire Department proudly recognized two outstanding members whose service exemplifies the very best of our profession. Through their dedication, leadership, and selfless commitment to others, they reflect our core values of honor, integrity, and excellence.

Our Firefighter of the Year, FF Tucker, consistently goes above and beyond in every task placed before him. His selfless attitude, dedication to others, and commitment to mentoring fellow firefighters embody the servant-hearted spirit of the fire service.

Our Officer of the Year, Captain Danny Glaser, was recognized for his unwavering dedication to serving others, living out the core values of HFD, and setting a high standard for leadership and professionalism. A devoted family man and respected leader, Captain Glaser continues to raise the bar for officers across our department.

Congratulations to both honorees for service that exceeds expectations and exemplifies what it means to serve our community with pride and purpose.
