29 days until Paint the Town Pink, our annual fundraiser for the firefighter's cancer fund. If you are interested in donating a basket for the raffle, please let me know and they will need to be in the office by October 1st. I already have some signed up and I appreciate you so much..... RUSK COUNTY BURN BAN | Effective Immediately: Burn Ban has been put into effect by the Rusk County Judge. A copy of the order can be found at the following link:

The Commissioners Court finds that conditions in the County's unincorporated areas pose a public safety hazard that outdoor burning would worsen; and the Commissioners Court is authorized to prohibit or restrict outdoor burning in the unincorporated area of the county under Texas Local Government Code, Section 352.081;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED:

1. Outdoor burning is prohibited in the unincorporated areas of Rusk County.

2. Exceptions include outdoor burning for public health and safety authorized by the TCEQ, and burns conducted by a certified prescribed burn manager following Texas Natural Resources Code requirements.

3. Outdoor cooking in contained grills or fire pits is allowed with adequate fire suppressant on site.

4. This order is effective immediately for no more than 90 days, unless ended earlier or renewed.

5. Violating this order is a Class C misdemeanor with a fine up to $500.

ALL TOGETHER NOW | At Central Fire Station a small crowd gathered for a time honored tradition. The fire truck "push-in" ceremony began in the 1800s with horse-drawn fire engines, which had to be physically pushed into the station by firefighters after a call, since horse-drawn teams were unable to back them in.

In the modern day, this ceremony is undertaken symbolically to welcome new engines into service, honor fire service history, and unite the community with the Fire Department. With hands and hearts united in prayer Henderson Fire Department welcomed two new vehicles to their fleet.

Thank you for all the volunteers and all the people who helped make this a possibility and a success. We had so much fun even if it was a hot day. We got to hang out with so many people that were willing to give up their Saturday and help make this such a great experience. Words will never be enough to express how much this means to us. We are overwhelmed and grateful. Thank you again.
