💚 Mental Health Awareness Month reminds us that support begins with conversation.

In a new community column, Thrive Executive Director Chris Parker, MSEd, LCMHC, shares why reducing stigma around mental and behavioral health matters, and how connection, stability, and community support can help individuals move from surviving to thriving.

“Seeking support should never be viewed as weakness. In reality, reaching out often takes tremendous strength.”

What a beautiful day for community, connection, and growth 🌱☀️
We were grateful to welcome volunteers from the United Way of Henderson County "Day of Caring" to Thrive’s Clubhouse, where helping hands spent the day cleaning out, preparing, and planting our raised garden beds for the season ahead.

These gardens are more than just a place to grow vegetables. Clubhouse members help care for the beds, harvest what is grown, and use the fresh ingredients in cooking classes and shared meals throughout the year. Along the way, they build skills, confidence, routine, and meaningful connections with one another.

Moments like these remind us how powerful community support can be. A simple day of service helps create opportunities for learning, inclusion, and belonging that continue long after the planting is done.

Thank you to United Way and all of the volunteers who helped make the day so special 💚

May is - Mental Health Awareness Month is a reminder that mental health touches every family, every workplace, and every community.

At Thrive, we see every day how connection, stability, and support can change lives. Whether through our Clubhouse program, housing case management services, or community partnerships, our mission is to help individuals move from surviving to thriving.

Mental health support is not only about crisis care. It is also about belonging, routine, purpose, and knowing you do not have to navigate challenges alone.

This month, we encourage our community to continue reducing stigma, checking in on one another, and recognizing that seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness 💚

Together, we can help create a community where people feel seen, supported, and valued.

One position filled. One more opportunity to make a difference.

At Thrive, our Housing Stabilization Specialists do more than help people find housing. They walk alongside individuals and families as they navigate challenges, overcome barriers, and build a foundation for long-term stability.

This work is personal. It requires patience, trust, and a belief that everyone deserves the chance to move forward.

We are still hiring one Housing Stabilization Specialist to join our team in Hendersonville.

If you value connection, listen with intention, and want your work to have a lasting impact, we would love to hear from you.

Creativity, connection, and a little bit of joy 🎨💛

At the Clubhouse, members recently spent time creating together, painting, crafting, and sharing ideas in a space that encourages expression and community. Led by Clubhouse staff member and local artist Abigail Buckman, this regular group offers a creative outlet for anyone who wants to join in.

Activities like these are more than just art projects. They are opportunities to build confidence, reduce stress, and connect with others in a meaningful way.

We are also grateful for the support of the Hendersonville Lions Club, whose grant helped make many of these supplies possible. Partnerships like this allow Thrive to continue offering programs that keep members engaged in healthy, creative ways.

At Thrive, it is not just about what we do. It is about creating spaces where people feel supported, inspired, and part of something.

Bright colors, big smiles, and a few hidden eggs 🐣🎨

Clubhouse members celebrated Good Friday last week with egg dyeing and an Easter egg hunt, a reminder of how meaningful simple moments can be.

Connection, creativity, and a sense of belonging are all part of the journey, and sometimes it starts with something as simple as gathering around a table 💛

At Thrive, these moments help build confidence, routine, and community every day.

Homelessness is often the result of compounding factors rather than a single event.
Job loss. An unexpected health setback. A conflict with a landlord. A lapse in transportation.
When support is absent, small disruptions become major crises, compounding any mental health challenges.
Thrive’s housing case management focuses on prevention and early intervention, helping individuals address barriers before they lose housing.
Preventing homelessness is not dramatic work. It is steady, relational, and practical.
That is the work Thrive does every day. Please consider supporting our work: Thrive4Health.org
