The 2nd Grade Tall Tales and Fairytales unit came alive! In the Tall Tale "Paul Bunyan", Paul loved his flapjacks. Students enjoyed flapjacks and drew pictures of Paul and watched a Paul Bunyan movie. Princesses reigned and imagination flowed!

Kindergarteners learned the importance of Habit 1 this morning! To help them remember that they are responsible for themselves, they created a stoplight that says “stop, think, make good choices.”

Our super Counselor, Mr. Guidash, is teaching his friend, Colton, woodworking skills. This old desk was on its way to the dumpster due to being cracked and falling apart. After clamping, gluing, and filling the cracks, Colton is now refinishing the chair by sanding out the scratches and stains. Afterwards they plan on varnishing the desk and using this antique chair once again in Mr. Guidash's office. What a great way to learn trade skills for the future!

WE WENT BANANAS AT OUR FIRST PEP RALLY!
We kicked things off by going over our pep rally expectations and setting the stage for an amazing year of school spirit.
We celebrated our incredible ML students who exited the program—we are SO proud of you!
We also welcomed our new staff members to the jungle, and let’s just say… they really got into the spirit! Our new staff battled it out in a hilarious game of musical chairs! Congratulations to Ms. Duncan for winning the riveting game!
Our student leaders went absolutely BANANAS as they led students in a fun-filled game, bringing energy, laughter, and plenty of school spirit to the gym!
And we couldn’t let the pep rally end without celebrating Mr. Bearrow on his marriage! Congratulations, Mr. Bearrow! We are so happy for you! One of our fifth grade leaders has also taken on the role of ROARY for the year, we’ll have a grand reveal at the end of the school year!
What a way to start the year! The jungle is alive, and our school spirit is STRONG!

's fabulous music/art teacher, Ms. Goodman, had Ms. Call's kindergarten group rolling out snakes and learning all about lines with Cassie Stephens's "Larry the Line" poem! Students use hand gestures to mimic a snake while chanting a call-and-response poem outlining various line types. Line Types Covered: Vertical ("up and down"), diagonal, horizontal, curves ("with a twist and a turn"), and angles.

Coming home today in Newsday Tuesday folders! Help our school earn money by linking your Ingles Advantage Card Number to Sugarloaf Elementary! Ask your family, neighbors and friends for their card numbers too. The class that has the most card numbers returned on the form will receive a doughnut party!
