UPDATE - 10:30 AM – The precautionary lockdowns at City Hall, City Operations, and the Hendersonville Police Department have been lifted. All city facilities have returned to normal business, and there is no threat to the public. We appreciate the community's collaboration as officers investigated a phone call threat.

As the investigation continues, the Police Department lockdown will remain in place until further notice.

A precautionary lockdown was initiated by the Hendersonville Police Department due to a threatening phone call received this morning. Out of an abundance of caution, please delay visiting City Hall, City Operations, or the Hendersonville Police Department. 🚒 Hydrant Testing is Underway! 💧

The Hendersonville Fire Department is testing and maintaining fire hydrants throughout the City through the end of September. This important work helps make sure hydrants are ready when firefighters need them most.

As crews work in your neighborhood, you may notice:

💧 Temporary lower water pressure
💦 Cloudy or discolored water
🚒 Firefighters working around hydrants

Discolored water can happen when minerals and sediment in water lines are stirred up during hydrant flushing. It is temporary and not harmful.

If your water is discolored: Run cold water from your faucet for a few minutes. If it doesn't clear, wait about 30 minutes and try again. If the issue continues for more than three to four hours, call Hendersonville Water and Sewer at 828-697-3073.

Regular hydrant testing helps us identify problems before an emergency and ensures firefighters can quickly access the water they need to protect our community.

Detour currently in place near the Blue Ridge Mall on 4 Seasons Blvd.

Detour - 4 Seasons Blvd.
🚧
There is heavy traffic congestion and a detour in place along 4 Seasons Blvd. (Highway 64) near the Blue Ridge Mall due to utility lines in the roadway. Duke Energy and NCDOT have been requested and we ask that motorists follow the detours provided by personnel on scene. Please avoid the area if you are able.

Today is National Be Someone Day… a reminder that one caring adult can make a lifelong difference in a child's life.

While our firefighters respond to emergencies, we're grateful for partners like the Trauma Intervention Program of Western North Carolina (TIP) whose trained volunteers provide compassionate support to local individuals and families, including children, in the aftermath of a crisis.

Together, we can help ensure no one has to face their hardest moments alone. 💙

Our pets are family, and on National Pet Fire Safety Day we want to share a few tips on how to keep pets safe in the event of a fire.

Here are a few pet fire safety tips:
🐶 Keep pets away from open flames, candles, and hot cooking surfaces.
🔌 Secure electrical cords to prevent chewing.
🏠 Place pet alert window clings near your home's main entrance to let first responders know how many pets may be inside.
🚪 Keep collars and leashes in an easy-to-find location near the door in case you need to evacuate quickly.

📱 You can also help Hendersonville firefighters by signing up for AlertHVL / Smart911. Create a free safety profile and add important information about your pets, including their names, descriptions, and any special needs. If you ever call 911 from a registered phone, that information can be made available to emergency responders, helping us better assist your entire family, including your pet companions.
