Hello Lincoln County DFLers.

First, an apology. I realize this is short notice… but what are you doing late tomorrow morning (June 20)?

Tomorrow is the Saddle Horse Holiday parade in lovely Lake Benton. I will be in the parade as the DFL candidate for State Representative for our district. I need “walkers.” Not the kind in the “Star Wars” movies, but Democrats to walk along with me in the parade. Your help would involve carrying my signs, handing out my campaign cards, and being enthusiastic paraders.

You can come and get organized at 11:30. I’m not sure exactly where the gathering place for the parade will be, but I’m sure it won’t be hard to miss.

If you can be there, please email me at [email protected] so I can bring Nelson tee-shirts for you to wear in the parade.

THANK YOU so very much. Again, I know it’s short notice but help from all you fine people will mean a great deal.

Rusty Nelson
Hendricks, MN
DFL Candidate for State House

• In 1947, President Harry Truman gave an important speech about civil rights to nation.
• In 1963, the “I Have a Dream” speech was given by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr to an enormous throng a national audience.

🇺🇸 - - - There is an opportunity for all of us to participate in a procession/parade this Sunday, June 14th to honor “Flag Day." Please consider participating to show that we are not just good at holding up political signs on “No Kings Days.” We can show our patriotic spirit and love of our flag, too. Don’t let some people feel like they “own” the flag. This is an opportunity for small-town camaraderie, showing up with our neighbors in solidarity to honor OUR flag.

🇺🇸 - - - Organizers are encouraging everyone to meet before 2:00pm at the American Legion Hall in Hendricks and join the procession. All are encouraged to wear red, white and blue, decorate bicycles, wagons, car, etc. and bring your own flag. The parade route will weave throughout most, or all, city streets beginning with Main Street. Spectators can cheer on the participants.

Rural Americans deserve better than Trump’s empty promises. This year they will have an opportunity to remind Republicans that their votes shouldn’t be taken for granted.

OUR REPRESENTATIVE – "In late March, Republican U.S. Rep. Michelle Fischbach, who represents my western Minnesota district, held a fundraiser starting at $50 a seat in Fergus Falls. The local paper, the Fergus Falls Daily Journal, sent a reporter to cover it. Fischbach’s crew wouldn’t let her in."

Rural Minnesota is hurting from rising costs, climate change and tariffs, and this is no time for political games.

When locals think of Rusty Nelson, most will associate him with the decades of teaching high school science. Others will remember him for his years of ambulance service. Some will reflect on his community efforts which include presiding over the Hendricks Senior Center. Come November, we all might begin associating with his latest endeavor. Nelson has taken the first steps on his campaign to become this area’s State Representative…

District 21A… has been represented by Joe Schomaker since 2011. Joe recently announced he would not be seeking reelection…

Lowell “Rusty” Nelson recently decided to seek the DFL’s endorsement to run for the MN House District 21A. No one else is known to be seeking the endorsement. The party decides whom to endorse at their Senate District convention in Slayton on April 18.

On Primary Election Day, each party selects a candidate for the general election. These candidates will then clash during the general election which will be held on Tuesday, November 3. Quite possibly Rusty Nelson will then become known as Representative Rusty Nelson.
