Welcome to Lakeside Ms. Hawkins

Welcome to the TEAM, Ms. Hawkins!🧡💙

Hello! I am thrilled to join the Lakeside team as an ESL teacher and will be sharing my time with Longdale Elementary. I taught 3rd, 2nd and Kindergarten in Henrico County before staying home with my 2 children for several years. When I came back to HCPS, I taught Reading Intervention and then became an ESL teacher serving Montrose, Ward and Baker elementary schools. In my free time I enjoy singing in an a capella chorus and skating with my roller derby team. I am passionate about supporting our multilingual learners and look forward to working with the Lakeside team!

Our hospitality team set up a snack bar to welcome our teachers back to Lakeside today! Thank you to all our community members who donated by purchasing from our Amazon wishlist! The PTA will restock the snacks throughout the week to keep our teachers fueled as they prepare their classrooms to welcome students back in a week!

We are excited to welcome Mrs. McGrath to the Lakeside TEAM! Join us in a warm welcome!💙🧡

Dia dhuit! — Hello in Irish! ☘️ My name is Breda McGrath, and I’m so excited to be joining Lakeside as an Exceptional Education Instructional Assistant! Originally from Ireland, I made the big move to Virginia last year to be with my partner, Charlie. I’m a mom of three, and we now call Glen Allen home. I have a BA in Applied Social Studies (Social Care), experience working with individuals with disabilities and behavioral challenges, and spent 14 years running my own childcare business. I’m passionate about working with children and being someone they can rely on.

Outside of work, I love family time, good coffee, sushi, exploring new places and restaurants, getting outdoors, hiking, and staying active. Charlie and I enjoy working out together, including some strength training and HIIT. I’m excited to bring my experience, energy, and a little Irish spirit to Lakeside! ☘️🧡💙
