Hey 4-Hers, Hannah McClure is gearing up for her Clothing Swap event on June 6. She is needing help this Friday at 5pm moving the clothes from where they are stored to Grace Church for them to setup. This is an awesome community service opportunity for anyone who is available.

They will be meeting at 5pm at 1002 E Wichita St here in Henrietta. If enough people show up it shouldn’t take very long, but Hannah will be extremely appreciative not to have to do it all herself.

So if you are available at 5pm on Friday come out and lend a hand! Bring a friend, they don’t have to be a 4-Her to help move some clothes bags!

Clay County 4-H Record books will be due to the County Extension office by noon on Monday June 23rd

Record books are an important skill for learning how to keep records and to share your project experiences. If you need any help with your record books please reach out to me and I will work with you!

If you would be interested in judging record books for county let me know, it is a great way to learn.

In addition, district record books judging will be done online over 3 days this year, rather than in person, if you are interested in judging district record books, let me know, it is an awesome way to learn.

There is a district and state contest for record books, and they are phenomenal in helping 4-Hers to fill out scholarship applications.

Big changes have come to the 4-H record book this year. We will be having a workshop on Tuesday April 28th at 6pm at the Wells Fargo Building in Henrietta to go over and update these changes. While the changes are significant, I do believe they will make the record book easier in the long run for both 1st time record book families and long time record book families.

The changes include replacing the 4-H story with 1(for juniors) 1 page narrative, 2(for intermediates) 1 page narratives, or 3(for seniors) 1 page narratives. There are other multiple changes to formatting and design of the recordbook that are significant this year. This will not be the record book as we have known it the past 7 years. These changes were made to bring the books more inline with scholarship applications and to make them less intimidating for 4-Hers to complete.

I feel that record books are phenomenal learning tool and valuable resource for 4-Hers in the future. I highly encourage anyone who wants to learn more about record books to attend this workshop on April 28th
