Wikipedia definition of Auto Extrication is as fallows. "Vehicle extrication is the process of removing a vehicle from around a person who has been involved in a motor vehicle accident, when conventional means of exit are impossible or inadvisable. A delicate approach is needed to minimize injury to the victim during the extrication. This operation is typically accomplished by using chocks and bracing for stabilization and hydraulic tools, including the Jaws of Life." We train so that we are prepared for when real life calls us to help in our those in our community.

With a winter storm expected to impact most of New York state, here are some fire safety tips to help keep your family safe. Also be sure to protect yourself and your loved ones from the cold temperatures by dressing in layers, covering all exposed skin, limiting your time outdoors, and bringing your pets indoors.

Over the past months the HFD Auto X Team has been working on our skills.
Somethings we worked on were
Person trapped under a vehicle, driver impaled through windshield, person trapped under a car with a wall on the front of the car and finally stabilize, glass removal, popping doors, roof flip and dash displacement.
The car was donated to the team and we used it over several days of drills.
We hope the weather holds up so we can get 1 more drill in the beginning of November.
We will drill inside with going over equipment so are skills stay fresh until the weather breaks.
We want to take time to Thank the Henrietta Fire Commissioners, Chiefs Office, Training Officer BC Tom Hayes, Mrs Lund and the West Henrietta FD for all the support we have received from them.

You might as well turn this sucker off!
all the fire departments in the county need help. We’ve heard all the excuses. I can’t commit to (fill in the blank), I’m not always available, I’m too young/old, I don’t know anything about it. They are just excuses. We are all volunteers. We can when we can and we can’t when we can’t.
This is an incredible job you get paid for in ways that aren’t money. If you’ve ever thought about it, contact the VFD in your area. The hardest part, is walking through that station door the first time.
We all live in the communities we serve. How can you make a difference?
Every fire department across the country needs help.
