Mike Campbell Mike Campbell, Clay County Judge Our family's roots run deep in Clay County. My grandparents moved to the Buffalo Springs area in 1889.

As one who was born and raised in Clay County, I have a great affection for the land and the people who are my neighbors and friends. We continue to raise cattle on this ranch and have expanded to additional acreage three miles east where Tricia and I have been blessed with the ability to build a new home where we plan to continue as good stewards of the land and someday pass it on to our children

and grandchildren. Now more than ever, we need to be involved in the events that shape our future. I believe that the best way to do that is to serve in our local government. All too often good people refuse to get involved because of all of the craziness that we see in the political arena today. My goal is to make a positive difference in our county government.

According to Our Blood Institute, there is a critically low level in our blood supply, specifically the O Neg and B Neg supplies, each with less than a 1-day supply.

Here are some facts about this blood shortage:
OBI has less than 65 units of O Neg available, less than a one-day supply.
Blood centers across the nation are facing shortages, making it impossible to import units needed to support local hospitals.
If inventories continue to decline, hospitals may be forced to delay some surgeries and non-emergency procedures.
O Neg and B Neg are at critical levels, but all blood types are needed to ensure a stable supply for patients who need transfusions.

Clay County Hospital will host a blood drive on Thursday, June 25th, from 1230-300pm in the Community Center Room. Or you can contact them today to donate at their Wichita Falls center. Call 877-340-8777 for more information.

At around 1:20 pm this afternoon a tank truck lost control and narrowly missed the staff at 4 Corners station located at Hwy 148 and 174. The truck destroyed the cafe area and almost hit the house.

Today, deputies with the Clay County Sheriff's Office placed John Patrick Gill into custody who is suspected of being involved in a series of incidents that have impacted the Bellevue community, including alleged theft, illegal camping, trespassing, and arson-related offenses.

We want to thank the citizens of Bellevue for their assistance, patience, and cooperation throughout this investigation. The information provided by community members was instrumental in helping deputies locate this individual.

We appreciate the continued support of our community as we work together to keep Clay County safe.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Over the past several weeks, our department has responded to multiple reports of possible wildfires that ultimately turned out to be residents conducting controlled burns. Unfortunately, these burns had not been reported prior to ignition.

When a fire is reported, we must treat every call as a potential emergency and respond accordingly. Each unnecessary response ties up firefighters, apparatus, and resources that may be needed for actual emergencies elsewhere in the county.

If you plan to conduct a controlled burn, please take a few moments to notify the Clay County Sheriff's Office non-emergency line at 940-538-5611 before you light the fire. A simple phone call can help prevent unnecessary emergency responses and ensure our resources remain available for those who truly need them.

It is also strongly recommended that all controlled burns be completely extinguished before sunset. As daylight fades, smoke becomes more difficult to evaluate, visibility decreases for motorists, and reports of unattended fires often increase, leading to additional calls for service.

Safe burning isn't just about following regulations—it's our responsibility as a community to help protect valuable emergency resources and keep our firefighters focused on real emergencies.
