Yes, like many of you, we see the smoke and haze floating through Bluegrove. This is all coming from the Ross Fire in Palo Pinto and Jack counties. Please pray for the firefighters and landowners. The fire is now estimated to be over 50,000 acres. Some of our own have gone to Jack County to help with the effort. Stay resilient, and still report anything you think looks suspicious so we can investigate just in case.

Thank you to Friberg-Cooper Volunteer Fire Department for allowing us to play in your annual scramble. We always appreciate the cooperation between departments. I invite all our teams that play in our annual scramble to come play a different course and support our neighbors to the northwest in their efforts to fund the ever-expanding annual costs of running a volunteer fire department.

Please.
If you see smoke—or even think you might—contact 911 immediately. Seconds count in weather like today’s.
And please do not drive toward the smoke to “check it out” or “see if it’s on your land.” Extra traffic slows our response and, more importantly, puts firefighters in danger as they try to work through heavy smoke.
Far too many firefighters in Clay County have been injured because of vehicles that became stuck while driving through smoke.
Stay back. Call it in. Let us do our job.Thank you.

Today is another day with low humidity, higher winds, hellish temperatures, and extremely dry vegetation. Please be mindful of any activity that could create a spark or concentrate heat. As always, if you believe you see smoke report it.

Bluegrove VFD, along with the other departments in the county, has been made aware of the budget shortfalls our commissioners are facing and the difficult decisions they must make regarding funding for county government.
We want to emphasize that we stand unanimously with the other departments in voicing our concern and strong objection to eliminating or reducing the Emergency Management Coordinator position.
The EMC’s ability to respond to local emergencies brings experience and access to vast resources that our local departments simply do not have. Without this position, response times will be delayed when emergencies occur. He serves as our critical link to county, state, and national resources when they are needed, and he helps coordinate mutual aid from other counties as well as local equipment and manpower.
Make no mistake: if this role is reduced to part-time or eliminated entirely, our district—and every other department in the county—will face delays and a loss of vital experience during emergencies.
We fully understand that local government budgeting is a challenging task given limited resources. However, we believe the safety of the county’s residents and property is one of the primary obligations of the commissioners and County Judge.
Please reach out to your local commissioner and the County Judge to show your support for keeping the Emergency Management Coordinator position fully funded.

We want to give a huge shout-out to Skeltons Shop for getting our fire truck back in the fight just in time.
Thanks to their quick work, the truck was ready and rolling when we responded to an ATV fire that sparked a small grass fire. Having that apparatus back in service made a real difference in getting the job done.
We appreciate the hard work and support from Skelton’s Shop — local partners like them help keep Bluegrove VFD ready to serve.

This afternoon, Bluegrove Volunteer Fire Department responded to an ATV fire that spread into a small grass fire.
Our crews quickly contained the fire with mutual aid assistance from Lake Arrowhead VFD and support from Clay County Emergency Management.
Thanks to the fast response and teamwork, the fire was held to a limited area with no structures threatened and no injuries reported.
