We are excited to announce that we have been awarded a Tender Grant through the Texas A&M Forest Service.

After months of research and deliberation we have landed on a truck from Niece. This truck will be a 4,000 gallon capacity with the capabilities to pump and roll. It will come with a in cab controlled monitor, and 2 front bumper nozzles. This grant covers $300,000 of the build and we will have to cover roughly $40,000 of the build ourselves.

We are supper excited about this truck as it will double our water carrying capabilities. We will be have a new and exciting t-shirt sale coming that will go towards this build. If all goes well we should have the truck by the first of the year.

We have just become aware that the Hotter than Hell bike race is apparently using West Spring Street from FM 1197/Bridge Street to HWY 148. So please be aware of bikes coming through town.

Delaware Fire

At 3:14 p.m. on August 18th, units were toned alongside, Lake Arrowhead VFD, and Lake Arrowhead Ranch Estates VFD to a slow-moving fire in thick brush along FM 2606 near the lake. At the time, temperatures were around 109°F with little to no wind.

The fire was quickly contained, and crews began backburning operations to help establish containment lines and prevent further spread.

At 7:22 p.m., the same units were toned back out for a rekindle. Due to shifting winds, the fire began spreading rapidly, prompting requests for additional mutual-aid resources from Bluegrove VFD and Jolly VFD. At this time Keith had reached out to Texas A&M Forestry Service and requested assistance with dozers and strike teams.

While responding to the rekindle, our units were also toned at 7:30 p.m., alongside Petrolia VFD and Byers VFD, to a grass fire near Hwy 148 and FM 2332. Thankfully, a quick response allowed crews to contain that fire rapidly.

Crews remained committed to the Delaware Fire throughout the evening and were initially cleared around 10:30 p.m. While en route to repair a truck that had lost a tire, our members were toned back out around 11:26 p.m. After several more hours of work, some members of our department did not make it home until well after 1 a.m.

The Delaware Fire burned approximately 95 acres before being contained.

There was one reported firefighter injury during the incident. A firefighter suffered a heat-related illness and was treated on scene at Lake Arrowhead Fire Department by CCMH medics.

This was a long, hot, and demanding night for everyone involved. We are extremely proud of our members and grateful for all of our mutual-aid partners who answered the call and worked alongside us.

Please be aware the park is closed till further notice. The pickleball courts and basketball courts are still open while the playground is being tore down and prepped for a new playground.

The fence pickets from the wooden park will be up at City Hall at 101 N Main starting tomorrow between the hours of 8-5 PM M-F. We are closed from 12-1 for lunch. Everyone has until September 11 at 5 PM to pick them up where they will be disposed of. If you cannot find yours, it is possible that over the years, it has been broken and damaged. Please come to City Hall and ask at the front desk. You will have to search for your own through the pile. Again deadline is September 11!

The City park is officially closed until further notice, please do not allow your children to go around the area, and the Sheriff's office will be patrolling extra during this time. .
