On June 2nd, the Henry American Legion Auxiliary will donate the Real Ball Bingo proceeds to Freedom Paws. Freedom Paws was founded and is based in Chillicothe, IL. Freedom Paws mission is to provide unwavering support to veterans and first responders who endure the burdens of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). With utmost dedication, we strive to offer these courageous individuals a lifeline in the form of a trained service dog. Through this noble partnership, we aim to alleviate the weight of life’s daily challenges, empowering them to regain independence, find solace, and rediscover hope. With each service dog we provide, we embark on a mission to restore strength, restore resilience, and restore the lives of those who have selflessly served our communities and nation. Together, we are committed to making a lasting impact on their well-being, honoring their sacrifice, and facilitating their path towards a brighter future.

At Freedom Paws Service Dogs Foundation, we are dedicated to stepping up our efforts in fundraising. Raising funds is by no means an easy feat, but through cooperation and community involvement we believe we can facilitate progress in this area. We are always striving to make a difference in the lives of our HEROES and invite you to get involved.

Real Ball Bingo was created to give the Henry Community an opportunity to come together. People interaction is what makes a true community. There is a meal available at 6:30 pm, as a donation activity, with Bingo starting at 7 pm. We play 10 games with the 5th game being a coverall/take all. The 10th game is a progressive game. Please come enjoy the fun and and help a GREAT cause. The Progressive Game will start at $266 in 25 balls or less.

PROGRESSIVE GAME STARTS AT $205 IN 24 BALLS OR LESS. Henry American Legion Auxiliary's Real Ball Bingo is Tuesday May 19th. The meal will be pulled pork. doors open at 630 with Bingo at 7 pm. Come have some good food and lots of fun!

HENRY LEGION PREPARES FOR MEMORIAL DAY SERVICES

The Henry American Legion Post 323 will start Memorial Day Services with the Commander’s Breakfast at 8 am until 9:30 am on Monday, May 25th. This will be followed at 10 am by the riverfront service to honor our comrades lost at sea. Following the riverfront services will be our service at the Henry Cemetery at 11 am. At 12 noon, the dedication at Stoner Park will recognize the new additions of veterans’ flags to the over 1,200 flags on the Veterans Walk. This program will be conducted by Boy Scout Troop 74. Have a safe Memorial Day Weekend.

THE LEGION AUXILIARY'S REAL BALL BINGO IS ON MAY 5TH, CINCO de MAYO. In keeping with the theme, the meal will be taco and nacho bar. THE PROGRESSIVE GAME IS STARTING AT $144 IN 23 BALLS OR LESS. Doors open at 630 on Tuesday with Bingo starting at 7. Come enjoy the fun.

Due to Administrative Error Henry American Legion Post 323 Extends Legion School Award Applicants

As graduation approaches, it is time to consider students for the Legion School Award. A male and female student are chosen from each of the 8th grade and 12th grade graduating classes. Candidates for the award will be judged in the following areas (some things can be listed in all 4 categories):

1. Community Involvement. List organizations such as scouting, 4-H, school clubs, etc.
2. Leadership. Describe any leadership roles in school, church or other organizations.
3. Volunteerism. Describe any volunteer projects you have taken part in. i.e. collecting for the food pantry, tutoring, etc.
4. Special accomplishments or awards. i.e. honor roll, scouting awards, community recognition.

The award application shall consist of two parts. The first shall be a cover page consisting of the student’s name centered under the words, “Legion School Award”. The second part will be the resume itself. Students need to go into great detail about their accomplishments. Please staple any additional pages to the application.

Judging: Each cover sheet and application will be assigned a letter or number. The cover sheet will be removed from the application. After the winning entries have been selected, the cover sheet will be matched to the application to identify the winner. The deadline for the applications is the 9th of May 2026.
