We now highlight the final field trip funded by Henryetta Education Foundation this year. The 5th grade classes had a spectacular time at the Tulsa Air & Space Museum. Like our third graders, the 5th graders fully embraced the learning experience and made wonderful memories.

Our sincere appreciation for the positive impact that the Henryetta Education Foundation made through these field trips. It allowed our students amazing hands-on learning experiences that some would never get to enjoy without the generosity of the HEF.

We also greatly appreciate the behind the scenes work of Mrs. Taylor Johnson, Mrs. Kim Taylor and Ms. Cindy Layman for planning and organizing these HEF grant opportunities!

We would like to share the final class project of a special class at HHS this past year. Mrs. Lisa Ward taught the first Mythology class in Henryetta School history. Even more impressive, is that Mrs. Ward taught 1 of only 35 Mythology classes across the state’s 450 plus school districts!!

In fact, there are no state standards offered for this course. Mrs. Ward created her curriculum from scratch focusing on Greek Mythology in the first semester and Norse Mythology in the second semester.

Mrs. Ward said that she and her students “had a blast” with this class. The students’ final project was a two-fold poster presentation over any myth that the class had studied over the year. They did a fantastic job!

Sadly, Mrs. Ward is leaving HHS to teach closer to home. We are so thankful for her investment into our students over the last couple of years. She stepped in to fill critical voids for our students. Mrs. Ward is clearly passionate about educating students, and we greatly appreciate her dedicated work at HPS.

Even though Mrs. Ward was contacted by the Oklahoma State Dept. of Education to help them write the standards for the Mythology course, Mrs. Ward will be moving on to other things. We wish her the very best and congratulate our HHS students for a job well done in this history-making class!

If you drive by the tennis courts on Main, you will do a double take!!! There are SO many kids taking advantage of the free Summer Tennis Camp running through June 26th! The photos below do not do the number of participants justice.

‼️105 kids participated yesterday as the camp kicked off!! 105 kids learning fundamental tennis skills from experienced and highly successful coaches & volunteers, developing a love for the game and being physically active.

Did I mention this is FREE for 4 days/week of instruction??!! We thank everyone who makes this incredible camp possible for all of local kiddos - our HPS coaches & players, Henryetta Lions Club, and the Henryetta Tennis Association.

Across the board, you will see all of our Henryetta coaches investing time and energy this summer into their student athletes and in the community overall. That says something about their work ethic, desire to build their program and willingness to provide something positive for our area youth. Thank you all for your continued work over summer “break”!
