🌞📚 Find Your Reading Joy This Summer! 📚🌞

From June 1 through July 31, the Deer Chase Elementary School Media Center is participating in the "Find Your Reading Joy" Summer Reading Challenge presented by Beanstack and Comics Plus!

We challenge all Deer Chase students and families to keep reading all summer long and log their reading through Beanstack. Whether you enjoy picture books, chapter books, graphic novels, magazines, audiobooks, or reading with your family, every minute counts!

📖 Challenge Dates: June 1 – July 31

📱 How to Participate:
Students can access their Beanstack accounts through Launchpad and log the books and reading minutes they complete throughout the summer. Families may also use the Beanstack mobile app to track reading.

🏆 Thousands of schools and libraries across the nation are participating in this challenge, and communities have the opportunity to earn prizes and recognition through their reading efforts.

Reading during the summer helps students maintain and strengthen the skills they worked so hard to build this school year. Whether it's 10 minutes a day or several books a week, every page counts!

Please join us for a Special Called PTA Meeting on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at 4:00 PM via Zoom. During this meeting, PTA members will vote on a proposed increase in membership dues from $7 to $10 for the upcoming school year.

This proposed increase would help support:
⭐ Student activities
⭐ Family engagement events
⭐ Teacher appreciation efforts
⭐ PTA programs & operational costs

What a fantastic way to celebrate the last day of school! This morning, our students had an amazing time at our PBIS Mega Party—filled with fun, laughter, and well-earned celebrations for their positive behavior all year long. We are so proud of each and every one of our Trailblazers! 🦌💚💛

🚫 Reminder: No balloons are allowed inside the building. You may leave them in your car to give to your student after the program.

🚪 Arrival & Dismissal:
• Enter through the front door by the lunchroom.
• Students will return to class after the program.
• Families will exit through the doors by the car line.
• To check out your student, please go to the front office.
• This process helps us quickly prepare for the next program—thank you for your cooperation!

We are excited to celebrate our students during Honors Day Programs next week! Please take a moment to review the schedule and important reminders below.

Monday, 5/18: Pre-K – 8:00 AM | Kindergarten – 9:00 AM
Tuesday, 5/19: 1st Grade – 8:00 AM | 2nd Grade – 9:00 AM
Wednesday, 5/20: 3rd Grade – 8:00 AM | 4th Grade – 9:00 AM

🚗 Traffic Flow Reminders:

Please enter through the door beside the lunchroom on the front side of the school.
All guests will exit through the cafeteria doors by the car line.

Yearbooks will be distributed on Wednesday, 5/13/2026! We are so excited for our Trailblazers to receive their memories from this school year. 📚✨

If your child would like classmates and teachers to sign their yearbook, they may bring a special pen to school tomorrow. Please make sure the pen is clearly labeled with your child’s name. 🖊️

Please join us in giving a standing ovation to our Deer Chase Elementary 2026-2027 Teacher of the Year, Ms. Mathis, and our Support Staff of the Year, Mrs. Cooper!

Ms. Mathis shines brightly as our 4th Grade ELA Teacher, leading her team with excellence, passion, and heart for our students. Her dedication to teaching and the way she inspires others truly deserves center stage attention!

Mrs. Cooper, our Registrar, is our behind-the-scenes superstar who helps keep Deer Chase running smoothly each and every day. From supporting students and families to helping staff with a smile, her leadership and care make a lasting impact on our school community.

🎬✨ Today was a full-circle moment at Deer Chase Elementary!

We were honored to welcome back members of the Class of 2026 for their Senior Walk today. Seniors representing multiple high schools walked our halls one more time, reconnecting with teachers who remembered them from their days here at Deer Chase. ❤️

Our current Deer Chase students were absolutely in awe as they cheered on the seniors and looked up to the incredible young adults they are becoming. From smiles and hugs to happy memories shared in the hallways, it was such a special reminder that once a Trailblazer, always a Trailblazer.

We are so proud of each and every senior and wish you all the best as you take your next steps toward an exciting future. 🎓✨
