We are so proud of our Hereford High School Culinary Arts students!

Yesterday, our students had the honor of being invited to cook for Region 16’s 60th Anniversary Celebration. They put their skills to work and served up a delicious breakfast for everyone in attendance!

What a great opportunity for our students to showcase their talents, gain real-world experience and represent Hereford ISD!

Way to go, Culinary Arts! We are proud of you!

Today meant something a little more than football.

Yesterday, we shared the story of one of our HISD families who lost their home and belongings in a fire. What happened next was Hereford doing what Hereford does best. Our community showed up.

The response was overwhelming. Clothes, furniture, household items, monetary donations and so much more came pouring in from people who simply wanted to help a family in need.

After practice today, our Herd football players stepped in to help with the next part. They loaded up the donated items, delivered them to the family and helped set everything up in their home.

You may have seen the words “Herd One” on the back of their shirts or over on the Hereford Athletics page. It is a motto that means many things. One of those is a commitment to being 1% better every single day.

But today, Herd One meant something a little different.

It meant a community coming together as one. It meant helping our neighbors when they needed us. It meant our student athletes learning that being part of the Herd is about so much more than what happens under the Friday night lights.

Today, we were Herd One.

Thank you, Hereford, for once again showing what makes this community so special.

This week, one of our HISD families lost their home and all of their belongings in a house fire. This family has students on multiple campuses across our district, and we are coming together to help them begin getting back on their feet.

Right now, their greatest needs include:

Clothing:
Ladies XS and Small
Boys Size 8
Men’s Small

Household Items: gently used or new

Refrigerator
Microwave
3 Queen and 1 Twin Size Bed Frame

We will also be accepting monetary donations at the Hereford ISD Administration Building for anyone who would like to help that way.

Donations can be dropped off at the Hereford ISD Administration Building before 12 today.

If you have a large item you would like to donate, please contact Rebecca Gerhardt at [email protected] or by calling the admin at 806-363-7600, and we can help arrange pickup.

Our Herd has always shown up for one another when it matters most. Thank you for helping us surround this family with love and support as they begin rebuilding after such a difficult week.

The Remarkable Story of Jack Fox

Some people leave a mark wherever they go. Brigadier General Jack R. Fox was one of those people, and Hereford ISD is proud to have been one of the many places shaped by his leadership.

Fox came to Hereford ISD in 1998 following an already distinguished career in the United States military. During his time at Hereford High School, he wasn't simply a teacher or coach. He became part of the foundation of programs that continue to impact students today.

In 1998, Fox helped launch the Lady Whiteface softball program, serving as its first head coach. He was also instrumental in organizing and building the Marine Corps JROTC program at Hereford High School and later coached cross country.

Those who knew him remember his leadership as something you could actually see.

When his cross-country athletes took to the streets of Hereford for training, Coach Fox wasn't following behind in a vehicle. He was running alongside them. Former colleagues still remember seeing him leading the pack through town, demonstrating the same leadership he carried throughout his life.

But Hereford was only one chapter in an extraordinary life of service.

Fox left HISD in 1999 to become Commandant of Cadets at his alma mater, New Mexico Military Institute. His career would later include serving as president of St. John's Military School, returning to military service and ultimately rising to the rank of Brigadier General. He also went on to serve as Cabinet Secretary of the New Mexico Department of Veterans Services.

His career took him many places and earned him numerous accomplishments, but here in Hereford, we remember something simpler.

We remember Coach Fox.

The man who helped build programs. The teacher students respected. The coach who didn't ask his athletes to run somewhere he wasn't willing to run himself.

Following the recent passing of Brigadier General Jack R. Fox, we are proud to look back at the remarkable life of a man who once walked the halls of Hereford High School and whose legacy can still be found within them today.

Coach. Teacher. General. Leader.

Hereford ISD is proud to have been part of his story.

We want to make sure our families are aware of Senate Bill 12 (SB 12), a Texas law that includes new requirements related to parental rights and involvement in public education.

As part of SB 12, the Texas Education Agency created information outlining parents' rights and options regarding their child's education, including instructional materials, health-related services, student records, special programs and more.

Texas school districts are required to provide this information to parents at the beginning of each school year and when a student first enrolls in the district. Districts are also required to make this information available on their website.

Hereford ISD has created a page where families can find SB 12 information, forms and additional resources.

Thank you for partnering with Hereford ISD and staying informed about your student's education!

For the safety of our students and staff, the stadium will now be closed to the public from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on regular school days.

The stadium is used by students for classes and activities during the school day. Texas school safety requirements require school facilities to be secure and limit public access while students are present. Because of these requirements, the stadium must remain closed to the public during school hours.

We know many members of our community enjoy using the stadium, and we apologize for the inconvenience. The stadium will reopen to the public after 4:00 p.m.

Thank you for understanding and for helping us keep our students and staff safe.
