Today marks 5 years since the passing of Sgt. Joshua Bartlett. Sgt. Bartlett missed each and every one of those days. He was a mentor, a leader, a father, a husband, a son, a sibling, a teammate, and a dedicated public servant. Deputies who had the honor of working with him remember him fondly. Sgt Bartlett was a U.S. Army veteran and served as the Commander of Lubbock County’s Regional SWAT Team.

Sgt. Bartlett’s life was tragically cut short on July 15th 2021, in Levelland Texas, during a SWAT callout for a barricaded subject who opened fire on the team. Please join us in taking a moment to honor Sgt. Bartlett.

Was just notified that there has been calls going around asking to upgrade your cable system. The caller ask you to follow their directions and then we’ll probably ask you for personal information and for payment information. The person that reported this to me stated that they hung up on him and then called the local cable company WT Sevices and was advised that there was nothing like that going on through them. So do not give out your information over the phone, if somebody tries to identify themselves as a company, you know hang up and call that company to confirm. Be safe.

There is a person calling stating they are Captain Anderson with the Sheriffs Office and that he is calling in reference to a subpoena being ignored in a murder investigation and he needs to meet with a person at a different address. This is a scam. There is no Captain Anderson at the Deaf Smith County Sheriff‘s office. If somebody calls you and you feel it is questionable. Please check with the agency that they are claiming to be from to see if there is an officer there because we will not call you about a subpoena. We will knock on your door.
