The Kansas Eviction Prevention Program (KEPP) is designed to decrease evictions and increase housing stability by assisting landlords and tenants experiencing financial hardship due to the COVID pandemic.

Through the KEPP program, landlords and tenants apply for up to $5000 per household to pay delinquent rental payments dating as far back as April 1, 2020. Payments will be made directly to the landlord, who must agree not to evict the household for nonpayment of rent or to charge late fees for the months KEPP assistance is received.

Today is Marcus Hawkes' last day as City Clerk. He has been in this role for about a year and a half. Marcus has had many obstacles come along his way and Marcus was able to stay cool and not become overwhelmed.

Marcus also led this City for a short time in absence of a City Manager. Marcus has helped Megan Lawrenz and Branden Dross transition into their roles of City Clerk and City Manager, respectively.

As of Monday, Marcus will be transferred to work in the Street Department. Please join me in applauding Marcus for this dedication and commitment to the City of Herington, the residents, and the business community. Thank you, Marcus!

October marks #EnergyAwarenessMonth

Proactively trimming the trees near the primary and secondary wire is essential for service continuation when there are high winds or inclement weather.

Please drive slow and cautiously when the electric crews are present. Safety is THE top priority when tending to electrical infrastructure.

David and his crews did a great job trimming the secondary wires last week on 1200 block of Walnut St.

Let's give a warm thank you for all the hard work David and his team do to keep our electricity on.

*** Public Service Annoucement ***

A Flex Net is the radio antenna that sends a signal to the handheld device to accurately measure a water read.

The right side of this photo shows what happens to our Flex Net when has encountered a mower or a shovel in snow removal.

The left side is what the Flex Net should look like.

We ask all water customers to be mindful when mowing their grass or removing snow in the upcoming months.

Thank you for your cooperation!
