***** NORTH MAIN ST TRAFFIC *****

The actual demolition of 115 N Main St is complete...now for the removal of the debris. According to DPW Supt Justin Cristman, this process will require an altered traffic flow on the 100 Block of N Main St from Park Ave to State St.

DPW has placed cones shifting the lanes slightly to the east (Collis and Munger Building side) to allow for trucks to park in front of the pile (next to Pete's). Please see the photos for a reference.

We ask that you avoid that stretch of the N Main St if possible. If you cannot, please use caution when travelling in that area.

The removal may not be completed until Friday, August 28th. We will keep you updated.

UPDATE: 8/20/26 @ 1:00pm: N MAIN ST IS NOW OPEN

***** TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE *****

Due the demolition of 115 N Main St, we have decided to close the 100 Block of N Main St from Park Ave to Albany St, leaving Albany Street open, with the ability to get around that median toward State Street. The eastbound turning lane on to N. Main from State Street will also be closed.

We have advised all affected businesses of this decision.

Please avoid this area throughout the day.

***** SMALL BUSINESS GRANT OPPORTUNITY *****

A reminder for downtown Herkimer businesses!

This funding opportunity is made possible through New York State's $10 million DRI Award and is administered locally by the Herkimer County IDA.

***** WORK IS COMPLETED *****

Thank you to NYSDOT for working with our DPW to remedy this issue...!

***** ROAD WORK: State St @ N Main St *****

On Tuesday, you will notice road work at N Main Street at State Street resulting from a small sink hole that opened up under the road. NYSDOT and Herkimer DPW coned off the affected lanes.

Work will begin first thing in the morning and should be completed by the end of the day.

We ask that you use caution while travelling in that area.

***** SEWER COLLECTION SYSTEM REHABILITATION PROJECT *****

National Water Main will begin cleaning out the storm sewers throughout the village.

We will receive an update weekly on the work areas for the following week. We will post here and on the Village website.

Please expect road closures, rerouting and slight delays.

There will be an onsite inspector.

They will be starting on Ridgewood Road and Westwood Drive.

***** Village Board Meeting: August 3, 2026 @ 6:00pm *****

Please see the attached Agenda. Each meeting, we will be going into Executive Session prior to the actual meeting so that you can be informed of decisions when the agenda item is addressed. We will specify the the reason for entering Executive Session per NYS Open Meetings Law section 105 (see attached).

NOTE: The Energy Audit Grant at 5:00pm is for the Board to updated on the status the grant. It will be held in the Board Room. A report will be given during the meeting.

We will once again attempt to stream the meeting. As you know, we have experienced difficulties due to poor/weak internet and poor audio due to the device we are using. We are trying to rectify the issue without purchasing new equipment. We appreciate your patience.
