Did you know Herkimer County stretches farther north to south than any other county in New York State? From the southern Town of Winfield to the northern communities of Inlet and Old Forge, our county spans a diverse landscape filled with opportunity.

Yesterday, HCIDA's John and Samantha made the drive to Old Forge to meet with the team at Thendara Golf Club. It's always great to get out and meet with businesses across Herkimer County and see what makes each community unique.

This past Tuesday, the Herkimer County IDA was proud to welcome an outstanding group of partners to our office, including The Institute for Rural Vitality at SUNY Cobleskill Ag & Tech, Mohawk Valley EDGE , HRP Associates, Inc. , Herkimer County Community College , and The City of Utica, NY. We were also honored to have the presidents of both Herkimer County Community College and SUNY Cobleskill join the conversation.

Together, we explored ways to better educate students and the broader community about brownfield redevelopment and the opportunities these sites create for economic growth, environmental revitalization, and community investment.

Following the discussion, the group toured several brownfield sites throughout Herkimer County, gaining a firsthand look at the challenges, potential, and progress of redevelopment efforts across the region.
