DNR has officially lifted the Boil Order for the City of Hermann.

Residents may resume normal water usage, including drinking, cooking, food preparation, and brushing teeth without boiling water.

Boil Order Update: The Boil Order remains in effect.
Unfortunately, after yesterday’s negative test, today’s test results for the problematic residence came back negative for E. Coli but positive on the Bac-T test. Although a positive Bac-T test does not require a boil order, it does not count as a clean test; therefore, DNR continues to require the boil order.
The last positive E. Coli test was on Friday, August 21, and was isolated to one residence. All other testing sites, including wells and tanks have always been E. Coli and Bac-T free.
We continue flushing hydrants in order to raise chlorine residuals. DNR has asked us to take multiple chlorine samples over the weekend, and if they are satisfied with the ranges, maybe there will be good news Monday.

Boil Order Update:
The City has received confirmation from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources that yesterday’s water samples tested negative for E. coli.
We are hopeful that results from today’s samples will be available by tomorrow evening; however, it may take up to two days to receive the final results.
The boil order remains in effect until the City receives two consecutive days of negative water test results.
Only one residence has been affected by E. coli. However, because the City’s water distribution system is interconnected, DNR required a precautionary city-wide boil order. The issue is likely related to the service line or tap serving that residence.
To help resolve the situation, City staff have been flushing hydrants for the past 48 hours. The Sand Plant Road water tank has been drained and refilled with freshly chlorinated water, and the See Tal Well will be addressed this evening.
We appreciate your continued patience and understanding while we await the remaining test results.

BOIL ORDER UPDATE:

The city-wide boil order remains in effect.

Before the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) can lift the boil order, two consecutive days of negative water test results are required. We are currently awaiting the results of Test #1 from samples collected yesterday. Samples for Test #2 were delivered to the state testing laboratory this morning.

Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation. We know this situation is inconvenient and apologize for the disruption. We will provide additional updates as soon as more information becomes available.

⚠️ BOIL ORDER NOTICE

The City of Hermann has issued a boil order for those residents that are supplied by the public water system. If you are in the affected area, please follow the City’s instructions until the boil order has been lifted.

We are sharing this information to help keep our community informed and safe. Please share with family, friends, and neighbors who may be affected.

Please keep up to date by following the City of Hermann's media pages. Here is a list of the standard precautions that consumers need to take.

1. Boil water vigorously for three minutes prior to use. Use only boiled water for drinking, brushing teeth, diluting fruit juices, and all other food preparation and consumption. Use bottled water if feasible.

2. Do not use ice from an affected household automatic icemaker for use any ice made with unboiled water from this system. Remake ice cubes with water that has been boiled or buy ice.

3. Disinfect dishes and other food contact surfaces by immersion for at least one minute in clean tap water that contains one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water.

4. LET WATER COOL SUFFICIENTLY BEFORE DRINKING.

Water used for bathing does not generally need to be boiled. Supervision of children is necessary while bathing or using backyard pools so water is not ingested.
