If you have previously registered but did not receive an alert, please log in to your account and verify that your contact information is correct.

DNR has officially lifted the Boil Order for the City of Hermann.

Residents may resume normal water usage, including drinking, cooking, food preparation, and brushing teeth without boiling water.

Boil Order Update: The Boil Order remains in effect.
Multiple chlorine samples have been taken from multiple sites throughout the weekend. Results will be discussed with DNR staff on Monday.
Unfortunately, after Thursday’s negative test, Friday’s test results for the problematic residence came back negative for E. Coli but positive on the Bac-T test. Although a positive Bac-T test does not require a boil order, it does not count as a clean test; therefore, DNR continues to require the boil order.
The last positive E. Coli test was from a water sample taken on Friday, August 21, and was isolated to one residence. The City was notified of the positive test on Monday, August 24. All other testing sites, including wells and tanks have always been E. Coli and Bac-T free. The affected residence was discovered through the City’s monthly rotating sample test program.
We continue flushing hydrants in order to raise chlorine residuals. DNR has asked us to take multiple chlorine samples over the weekend. Thank you for your continued patience.

Boil Order Update: The Boil Order remains in effect.
Unfortunately, after Thursday’s negative test, Friday’s test results for the problematic residence came back negative for E. Coli but positive on the Bac-T test. Although a positive Bac-T test does not require a boil order, it does not count as a clean test; therefore, DNR continues to require the boil order.
The last positive E. Coli test was from a water sample taken on Friday, August 21, and was isolated to one residence. The City was notified of the positive test on Monday, August 24. Boil Order Update:
The City has received confirmation from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources that yesterday’s water samples tested negative for E. coli.
We are hopeful that results from today’s samples will be available by tomorrow evening; however, it may take up to two days to receive the final results.
The boil order remains in effect until the City receives two consecutive days of negative water test results.
Only one residence has been affected by E. coli. However, because the City’s water distribution system is interconnected, DNR required a precautionary city-wide boil order. The issue is likely related to the service line or tap serving that residence.
To help resolve the situation, City staff have been flushing hydrants for the past 48 hours. The Sand Plant Road water tank has been drained and refilled with freshly chlorinated water, and the See Tal Well will be addressed this evening.
We appreciate your continued patience and understanding while we await the remaining test results.

BOIL ORDER UPDATE:

The city-wide boil order remains in effect.

Before the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) can lift the boil order, two consecutive days of negative water test results are required. We are currently awaiting the results of Test #1 from samples collected yesterday. Samples for Test #2 were delivered to the state testing laboratory this morning.

Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation. We know this situation is inconvenient and apologize for the disruption. We will provide additional updates as soon as more information becomes available.

🚨 BOIL WATER ORDER NOTICE 🚨
City of Hermann

August 24, 2026

Out of an abundance of caution and at the request of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the City of Hermann has issued a city-wide Boil Water Order until further notice.

What You Need to Do

✅ Boil all water used for:

Drinking
Cooking
Food preparation
Brushing teeth

✅ Bring water to a rolling boil for three (3) minutes before use.

Reason for the Order

The issue originated at a single residence. However, because the City's water distribution system is interconnected, the Department of Natural Resources requires that a precautionary city-wide boil order be implemented.

The City is actively addressing the situation and will notify residents as soon as the boil order is lifted.
