🌟 EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT 🌟

This week, we’re shining the spotlight on Edna, our High School Kitchen Manager! Edna has been part of GCR-1 for an amazing 20 years! 💙🐾

Her favorite part of the job is being around our students and doing what she enjoys each day. Outside of school, Edna loves spending time with her grandkids, shopping, and going to the movies. If she could travel anywhere tomorrow, she’d head to Florida to visit her grandkids! ☀️

🍴 Favorite restaurants: Dos Primos & Applebee’s
🍗 Food she could never give up: Chicken
💭 Advice to her younger self: “Go to college.”

Tomorrow is the Day!!!

We are beyond excited for the Hermann Harvest Festival SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26th from 10:00-4:00!!! 🌾🍂

👉🏻👉🏻The first TWENTY FIVE {Adults} in line the morning of the event will receive a SWAG BAG full of GOODIES (must be at the 4th Street entrance)👈🏻👈🏻

🚨 🚨 ENTRANCE TO THIS EVENT IS ON EAST 4TH STREET & GUTENBERG STREET {✌🏻 Entrances This Year} 🚨🚨 5TH STREET WILL BE CLOSED

🛍Please Note Some Vendors Will be 💵 & Carry Only, While Others Will Take 💳 So Please Come Prepared! TIA 🛍

👇Pro Tips For The Event! 👇

◾Admission is $5(Cash only at the gate) kids 2 & under are FREE and parking is FREE

◾Cash is KEY
Most vendors take cards but not all so come prepared and grab some cash

◾Make it a girls day, day date, or family outing. There is something for everyone!

◾Plan to spend the day! Over 80 booths, plus KID ZONE, & food & drink vendors! Yep, that’s right food trucks, wh***ey, b**r and swirl! You will be set! What more does a person need?

◾Bring your wagons/carts/strollers to haul your amazing finds!

◾Show will go on rain or shine, so we will see you there!!

◾Parking: Gutenberg Street (both sides), Gutenberg Parking Lot, and the Hermann Riverfront

🎶 HOST FAMILIES NEEDED! 🎶

GCR-1 is excited to welcome the student Big Band from the Käthe-Kollwitz-Schule in Hannover, Germany, to Hermann October 16–18!

We are asking our community to help us provide host homes for 24 students and 6 adults during their visit to Hermann.

🏠 Hosting Details:
• Students will be hosted in groups of two
• Adult guests include 5 men and 1 woman
• Guests will arrive at the Hermann Amtrak Station at 9:45 a.m. on Friday, October 16
• Host families will meet their guests at the station upon arrival and return them to the station for their 9:45 a.m. departure on Sunday, October 18

🎺 During their visit, the Big Band will perform a concert for our students at the High School on Friday, as well as an additional concert on Saturday. More details will be shared as they are finalized!

We would love to see our GCR-1 families and Hermann community help give these students a warm welcome and a memorable experience in Hermann! ❤️

📣 REMINDER, BEARCAT FAMILIES! 🍎🐾

Free and Reduced Lunch forms were mailed to families and need to be returned to your child’s building or mailed back by September 30, 2026.

Even if you’re unsure whether your family qualifies, we encourage you to complete and return the form. 📝

Completing these forms allows for continued funding of vital programs for our students.
