Hermiston School District 8R

Hermiston School District 8R Future Focused: Building Knowledge and Skills for Tomorrow Support for the school district has been strong from the community.

Hermiston School District is the largest district in Eastern Oregon, exceeding 5,500 students, and continues to experience steady enrollment growth. It serves students in grades kindergarten through 12 with a broad range of programs from foundational learning skills to comprehensive vocational programs to an exhaustive array of post-secondary college credit bearing opportunities. The school distri

ct includes a 9-12 senior high school, two 6-8 middle schools, five K-5 elementary schools, an alternative school, and a robust online learning program option for students and families. In 2001 voters approved a $39 million building program which included the re-construction of the high school, an additional elementary school, and various district-wide renovations. The voters also approved a $69.9 million bond in 2008. The bond served to replace Armand Larive Middle School, West Park Elementary, and Sunset Elementary. The District employs over 520 full time staff that includes approximately 300 teachers and over 200 classified, support, and supervisory personnel, making it one of the largest employers in the city of Hermiston. A nationally-recognized community that embraces its diversity, the district serves some 28,000 residents, where one-third of the population is Hispanic. The school district prides itself on the academic achievement of its students, successful athletic programs, nationally-recognized club and activity organizations, and its exhaustive list of academic and elective opportunities available to students. The Districtโ€™s partnership with community organizations has been central to its continued success, highlighted by support groups who have provided nearly a half a million dollars to assist students and programs through such venues as the Hermiston Sports Booster Club, Hermiston Education Foundation, Band Boosters, FFA Alumni, and the community sponsorship of the student homebuilding program, to name a few.

We are thrilled to introduce Kelsey Ramsey as Hermiston High School's new Athletic Trainer!

Kelsey comes to us from Southridge High School, where she served as a Certified Athletic Trainer for the past two years. Growing up in Quincy in North Central Washington, she knows firsthand the vital role athletics play in small communities.

She holds a degree from Eastern Washington University and a Master's in Athletic Training from Whitworth University. We are excited to have her energy and passion for athletics in the Bulldog family and look forward to her being a fixture in our sports medicine room for years to come.

Please join us in welcoming Kelsey! ๐Ÿ‘

Senior Success Spotlight: Nevaeh Paris ๐ŸŽ“
As we count down the Dawg Days, we're shining the spotlight on Nevaeh, who has her sights set on a career in accounting and international business!

After graduation, Nevaeh plans to attend the University of Oregon to pursue degrees in Accounting and International Business. ๐Ÿฆ†

At HHS, Nevaeh made her mark through FBLA and the after-school theater program, where she built lasting friendships and connections. ๐ŸŽญ FBLA taught her valuable life skills, and participating in musicals became one of her favorite high school memories.

Nevaeh would like to give a special shoutout to Mr. Dagley for welcoming her into his class and teaching financial readiness skills she will carry beyond high school while encouraging her to think independently.

With the support of a generous scholarship to a four-year private university, Nevaeh is ready to continue making an impact. ๐ŸŒŸ
