1. Marginal to Slight risk for severe storms this evening into the overnight hours. Large hail and damaging straight- line winds will be the primary hazards.

2. Localized flash flooding is a concern broadly across central Missouri tonight, though confidence in the location/axis of the heaviest rainfall remains low.

3. Warm and humid conditions on Monday with heat index values in the 90s to around 100 degrees.

4. Mostly dry conditions through the work week, with better rain chances returning next weekend.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely before 3am, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm between 3am and 4am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4am. Low around 66. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming light and variable. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Special Update from the NWS office in Springfield Missouri.

Here's the graphic for that mesoscale discussion. It's still early and storms have yet to fire to our northwest, so it will still likely be a few hours before we see much activity. This discussion is primarily for the hail and wind risk with the initial developing supercells.

Isolated storms (possibly strong) may linger across the eastern Ozarks on Monday. Otherwise, Monday will be hot and muggy. Temperatures become more seasonable for the rest of the week, with rain chances returning on Friday.

Isolated storms will form across eastern Kansas and western Missouri this evening before becoming more widespread across central Missouri and the eastern Ozarks overnight. A few of these storms could be strong to severe, capable of producing large hail and damaging winds.

Scattered moderate to heavy rain will move through central Missouri and the eastern Ozarks tonight. The exact location of the heaviest rainfall remains uncertain, but repeated thunderstorms may result in locally heavy rainfall and flash flooding, most likely in the yellow shaded area.
