Cat and Renay enjoyed a special evening as models in The Salvation Army's Runway with a Purpose fundraiser!

With excitement and confidence, they selected their outfits and loved every moment in the spotlight. Their smiles lit up the runway, reminding us that this event is about more than fashion— The Salvation Army celebrates individuality, building confidence, and being wholly inclusive.

Thank you, Cat and Renay, for helping make Runway with a Purpose such a memorable and inspiring event!

Our residential Individuals beat the heat yesterday with an unforgettable trip to Kennywood.
Despite the weather we took on the high-flying coasters, fast paced Thrills and leisurely rides.
There was something for everyone to enjoy. We came, we rode, we played games, we ate and we conquered
every adventure that came our way. Smiles, laughter and lasting memories filled the day. A wonderful time was had by all and we look forward to our next adventure.

Staff member Cathyrn Shafer accompanied a group on an all-day community adventure to explore Hippley Gardens. The outing provided an opportunity to enjoy the beauty of nature, participate in a meaningful recreational activity, and spend quality time together in a peaceful community setting.

Visiting Hippley Gardens is especially beneficial because it offers opportunities to experience nature, engage in light physical activity, and enjoy a sensory-rich environment that promotes relaxation and overall well-being. Throughout the visit, the group explored all eight garden features and the eight water features displayed throughout the gardens. Walking the garden paths encouraged movement while providing opportunities for observation, conversation, and appreciation of the unique landscaping and natural surroundings.

The group also enjoyed lunch together in the gardens, taking advantage of the beautiful weather and tranquil atmosphere. Sharing a meal in the community promoted social interaction, relationship-building, and the opportunity to create positive shared experiences.
Overall, the outing to Hippley Gardens was a meaningful experience that supported community inclusion, encouraged physical activity, enhanced well-being, and provided an enjoyable opportunity to explore and appreciate a local community resource.

After 15 wonderful years of dedicated service, we are wishing a heartfelt congratulations to Marylou T on her retirement from her TAA position at MCAR!
Since joining our team in 2011, Marylou has been a steady source of kindness, compassion, and calm for everyone she met. She spent much of her time in our Prevocational Day Program, where she helped individuals build valuable job skills while encouraging them to believe in themselves and grow in confidence.
Marylou was always willing to jump in wherever she was needed, embracing each day with a positive attitude and a caring heart. Her selflessness, patience, and genuine dedication have made a lasting impact on the lives of so many individuals, families, and coworkers.
Marylou, thank you for your 15 years of unwavering commitment, your compassionate spirit, and the countless ways you have made MCAR a better place. You will be deeply missed, but your legacy of kindness and service will continue to inspire us.
Congratulations on your well-deserved retirement! We wish you happiness, good health, and many wonderful adventures in this exciting new chapter.
