HELP A 4-H’ER FIND THEIR SPARK!

Ever thought about sharing a skill, hobby, or passion with the next generation? We have a way for you to make a BIG impact right here in Hickory County!

We're looking for volunteers to lead 4-H project groups and help our youth learn, grow, and discover new interests. Whether you're handy with tools, love cooking, enjoy the outdoors, or have another skill to share, there's a young person who could benefit from what you know!

Here's the good news: You don't have to be a professional or have years of teaching experience. We'll provide training to help you get started!

What we're asking:
Preferably age 21 or older
Pass a required background check
Provide at least 6 hours of instruction to youth between now and June 1
Choose the meeting dates and times that work best for YOU!

Sometimes, the biggest impact isn't the skill a young person learns. It's the confidence they gain, the encouragement they receive, and knowing an adult believes in them.

You never know how much a few hours of your time could mean to a young person!

IT'S THE BEST DAY EVER! 4-H enrollment for the 2026-2027 year is open!

How do I sign my child up?
Sign up is online. The process can be challenging so we typically provide assistance for new families.

When should I sign my child up?
Waiting until we hold our first meeting on October 26th is ideal so we can talk about the projects and volunteers.

Is there a cost?
Yes. State dues are $25 per child. There can be costs for projects the youth make and those will be discussed with the project volunteer. Example: lumber for woodworking projects.

I have free time and want to volunteer to lead a project, how do I do this?
Contact Sarah Boyer via the information below. We always need volunteers!

“Okay…but what exactly IS 4-H?”

Excellent question. We have answers.

If you’re new to 4-H or if you’ve been around it but still aren’t totally sure what happens beyond the green clover, YOU NEED TO BE HERE.

Come to our 4-H Meet & Greet and get the inside scoop on projects, clubs, activities, opportunities, meetings, and all the ways your kid can get involved this year.

Adults interested in volunteering are also welcome to attend!

No pressure. No awkward “orientation” vibes. Just come hang out, meet the people behind 4-H, ask ALL the questions, and see what this whole 4-H thing is about.

New to 4-H? Start here.
Thinking about joining? Come check us out.
Already in 4-H? Bring a friend!

On Saturday I had the opportunity to attend the Missouri 4-H State Archery and R***e competition to watch four of our county youth compete. To say that I'm incredibly proud of these youth is an understatement. This was the first time these four attended the state shoot and they represented Hickory County very well.
