You may have heard a fire fighter suggest you sleep with your door shut at night. This video demonstrates why we advocate for everyone to sleep with their bedroom doors shut at night. Every minute counts and even the simplest and cheapest of doors can hold back volumes of smoke and fire, giving us extra time to get to you, or for you to self rescue.

Though we appreciate our partners in EMS every week of the year, this week is National EMS Week and this year’s theme is “Improving outcomes, together”. This statement reflects all of public safety organizations’ commitment to the preservation of life, and doing so together.

We are blessed to work alongside such wonderful and skilled providers in the area, many of which also volunteer with us. The Hermitage Fire Department strives to live up to this year’s theme by assisting EMS during traumatic injuries, cardiac arrests, and any time our QRS abilities are requested in order to improve the patient’s outcome, together.

It may not always be conveyed, but we are thankful for EMS providers everywhere. Happy EMS week to everyone who continue to make a difference in people’s lives, day in and day out. We also challenge all of our followers to join us in our appreciation, not just this week but every week of the year.
