It’s 🌊
Commitment to a healthy environment and lifestyles is part of the community vision for Hermosa Beach. Yet, plastic straws and utensils of all shapes, sizes and colors pop up everywhere including on our beach and in our ocean. Here in Hermosa Beach we have the opportunity to do something big about this problem. Plastic bags, straws, and utensils are in the top six most commonly found pieces of trash during beach cleanups in California, and are also some of the most harmful pieces of plastic pollution to marine life.

In honor of day, we encourage you to learn about the City’s efforts to reduce single use plastics and share your tips to find alternatives and reduce your plastic use. Know a business that is leading the way? Give them some ❤️ in the comments!

Hermosa Beach is preparing for rising sea levels by using virtual reality tools to involve the community in seeing the potential impacts at key spots and engaging in the array of climate solutions. Look Ahead Hermosa Beach launches today as we host a booth at the Hermosa Beach Farmers Market on Pier Plaza from 12-6 PM on 2/19. Stop by and join us for a few minutes to view the initiative and engage in a discussion about the risks and solutions with our team or view the scenarios online and provide your input!

Do you live along or near Prospect Ave? 🏠 Maybe you walk with your children to school at Hermosa View Elementary or Our Lady of Guadalupe School along the corridor. 🚸 Or perhaps you are a frequent visitor to our many parks along the corridor. 🌳

The city has kicked off a grant to design and implement a traffic safety demonstration project on the Prospect Avenue Corridor. We are forming a stakeholder working group which will meet for 8-10 months to assist with identifying potential improvements for the corridor, conducting outreach and brainstorming programming activities to activate spaces along the corridor during events.

Interested in participating in the stakeholder working group? Fill out the form at the link on our profile by 2/28 or tag a friend that you think may be interested.
