Thank you, Ashby Ponds!

It was wonderful to see everyone at today's Ashby Ponds Democratic candidate forum. The primary is on SATURDAY, November 16! There will be 5 polling locations open from 9 AM - 4 PM.

There’s a special election in Virginia on Nov. 16, and Our Revolution is proud to endorse Delegate Ibraheem Samirah for VA State Senate District 32.

Big problems require bold solutions like the ones Ibraheem championed in the Virginia House of Delegates — Including state-level Medicare for All, a Virginia Green New Deal, and quality, affordable housing.

The SD-32 primary is the national progressive movement’s opening salvo against Trump. We need to win elections by sending in a new generation of leaders who are unafraid to take the fight to MAGA extremists and will offer a bold vision for the future.

Proud of Potomac Falls HS standing up for a Free Palestine and an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Young Loudouners are on the right side of history.

It was great to hit the campaign trail yesterday morning in Leesburg at the NAACP’s annual Souls to the Polls March, pushing to get State Senate candidate Russett Perry over the finish line.

Loudoun — Make sure you get out and VOTE this Tuesday!

To all my Virginia Democratic party electeds and candidates, my friends, my former colleagues in the Virginia House and Senate. To my Democratic party activists, organizers, to all my straight-D downballot friends. To my friends that care about upholding our lower case-d democratic values:

Hate crimes against Palestinian, Arab and Muslim Americans are heavily on the rise. A 6-year old Palestinian American infant was stabbed 26 times to death in Chicago yesterday, and +1000 Palestinian children have been killed in Gaza so far. MSNBC, CNN, NBC, and our top Democratic political brass are engaged in the same dehumanization that we are used to pushing back against from Republicans, and they know it. These are people that are supposed to be part of our Big Tent of disenfranchised people we fight for here at home and across the globe.

It's racist, Islamophobic and just flat-out fascist. It's going to cause ethnic cleansing in Gaza to innocent Palestinians, Christian and Muslim alike, just as had happened to my grandparents in 1948 when they were forced to flee Jerusalem to Jordan in fear of being massacred, only to live as refugees until they died. It needs to stop, immediately, for the sake of stopping violence here at home and abroad.

It is not difficult to condemn and demand the stopping of any form of violence that kills innocent Israelis and Palestinians, and to demand from our Virginia congressional delegation hard work from them to de-escalate the war in Gaza.

It's important to stand up, now, and speak up, especially when we are just weeks out from one of the most important elections Virginia will have for the foreseeable future. It is the right thing to do morally, ethically, and politically. Tens of thousands of registered Muslim and Arab American voters in Loudoun and Prince William counties, and 250,000 registered across Virginia are watching who does what, now, so that they know whether to vote Blue or not next month, in key swing State Senate and Delegate districts and into next year's presidential elections, and beyond.

Let's wake up quickly to these realities before more innocent people die because of hate, both here in the US and in the Middle East, and before we lose democracy to extremists manipulating our ranks from the right, both in Israel-Palestine, in Virginia, and across the US.

The recent news regarding her retirement is heartbreaking to hear. Throughout her career in public service, Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton has been a courageous fighter for the people of Loudoun County and Virginia's 10th District. She will truly be missed as our voice in Congress, and I wish her the best.

It was so great to meet with Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton today on Capitol Hill to talk about how we can work together to fight for Northern Virginians. Congresswoman Wexton is a leading voice among the inspiring class of Democratic fresh(wo)men in the house.

Meet Krithik and Mustafa, two best friends who I met for the first time in 2019. I was able to touch their lives in very positive ways through working as their State Delegate as well as teaching them a little about campaigning for the causes that make their lives better. Yesterday we bumped into each other while shopping and had to take a picture to build on our years of taking pictures. Our first picture was when they were in HS and now they are in their senior years of college in Virginia.

These are just glimpses of many stories that make me proud to serve the public.

Eid Adha Mubarak friends! For those that don't celebrate it, do you know what the story behind this holiday for Muslims is? Muslim kids primarily grow up thinking its about lambs. The person ready to make a sacrifice was Prophet Ibrahim, and God rewarded him for his willingness to do so by saving his son, and giving him a lamb to offer instead. And that's why all the kids only remember is the lamb 🐑

But if there's one thing Eid Al Adha brings, as someone who shares the name of Prophet Ibrahim, is a reminder that sacrificing in the way of doing good always brings happiness. So, in the words of President Jimmy Carter, here's to "each of us rededicat[ing] ourselves to serving the common good. We are a community. Our individual fates are linked; our futures intertwined; and if we act in that knowledge and in that spirit together, as the Bible says: ‘We can move mountains.’”

Finally rested enough to get back to everyone that supported me in my bid for State Senate. To Loudouners I want to say thank you, thank you, thank you. Thanks a million for giving me the chance to stand up for everyone that needs help, for allowing me to remind that working people of all backgrounds deserve an equal opportunity at a good life in Loudoun, and beyond. There's nothing more humbling than to not get the result you want in an election, but surely this is not the end.

I've been on the winning and losing side before, and I can confidently say that where one grows the most they get tested the most. The future is very bright and I am proud of the results we got. In Loudoun, every vote matters not just for the future of Loudoun, but the future of Virginia and even the country as a whole. I called Suhas Subramanyam and congratulated him on his victory. I pledged my support to him against his Republican opponent. It is time to unite for the general election, defeat Republican extremists, and keep Loudoun blue.
