Day two of Industry Immersion is complete! ❤️

Attendees began the day with a behind-the-scenes tour at the Chicago Marriott Downtown hotel. Senior Event Manager, Alex Marr, presented on career and internship opportunities and shared his own career journey with Marriott.

The tour continued with a visit to the hotel's kitchen facilities, where Executive Chef Amy Reynolds showcased their daily operations and treated attendees to delicious treats. The kitchen emphasizes sustainability and maintains a rooftop garden and bee farm. Attendees also learned about the over 500 diverse professionals involved in running the hotel, spanning from carpenters and painters to housekeeping and management staff.

After the hotel tour, attendees headed to the National Restaurant Association Show, featuring over 1,500 exhibitors. With a combined exhibit space larger than ten football fields, attendees had the opportunity to network with industry professionals, explore cutting-edge technology, and discover the latest innovations in the restaurant and hospitality industry.

FCCLA members and advisers from across the nation arrived earlier today in Chicago, IL for the 2023 Industry Immersion and National Restaurant Association Show.

Attendees kicked off the weekend with a food tour around the city where they tried deep-dish pizza, a Chicago hotdog, an Italian beef sandwich, and ended the tour with a Chicago brownie. Fun fact - the brownie was invented in Chicago!

Tomorrow, attendees will have a behind-the-scenes hotel tour and spend the rest of the day at the largest annual gathering of foodservice professionals in the Western Hemisphere, the National Restaurant Association Show!

It's an incREDible week at FCCLA National Headquarters because the 2023 Summer Interns have officially arrived! ❤️

These individuals will be working behind the scenes this summer at FCCLA's National Headquarters in Herndon, VA as an extension of the National Staff. The FCCLA Summer Internship program includes positions in multiple departments with the opportunity to contribute significantly to the FCCLA mission and provide relevant experiences for collegiate students. Over the years, many FCCLA interns have gone on to begin successful careers that support Family and Consumer Sciences.

Please join FCCLA in giving a warm welcome to this year's summer interns!

Congratulations Kayla Howard! Kayla is Purdue’s 2023 Outstanding Senior in Family & Consumer Sciences Education. Inspired through her own FCCLA experiences, Kayla is an FCS Education leader of promise, stepping into multiple FCS leadership and volunteer opportunities. Active in the Purdue AAFCS Student Unit, Kayla served as president during the 2022 year. Nationally, Kayla will complete her term as president of the AAFCS Student Unit at the end of June. Kayla looks forward to completing her student teaching in Fall 2023, at Clinton Prairie Jr.-Sr. High School, where she anticipates advancing the school’s FCCLA program.

FCCLA student members are invited to apply to sing the national anthem at the Opening General Session of the 2023 National Leadership Conference in Denver, CO. This is an incREDible opportunity to showcase your talent in front of thousands of conference attendees.

It's , and this week we are highlighting Maggie Henderson from the Boswell FCCLA Chapter in Texas!

“As a shy freshman, I joined FCCLA to gain confidence and explore leadership opportunities. Over time, my involvement grew, and I found my chapter members to be more than just friends; they became family. This sense of community inspired me to run for a chapter officer position, and I was elected as Boswell FCCLA's Secretary and Treasurer. But my FCCLA journey didn't stop there.

During my sophomore year, I chose to participate in Spotlight on Projects and created a project centered on my chapter's annual community service project. This turned out to be the best decision I ever made. After months of hard work, I eventually competed, and the experience was remarkable. Not only did I win first place and qualify for state, but I also gained valuable experience.

Attending the Texas State Leadership Conference enabled me to meet new people and make friends. It allowed me to reflect on my freshman year and recognize how much I had grown since then. I realized that without the support of FCCLA, I would not have been able to achieve half of what I did at the conference. This organization has enabled me to broaden my horizons, increase my confidence, and ultimately become a better leader.

This is why I love FCCLA! This is truly the best organization, and I believe that everyone should know about it.”

"FCCLA has been a huge part of my life for the past three years. I initially joined the organization in 9th grade because my mom was also a member when she was in high school. I wanted to see what this organization was all about, and it's been an essential part of my life ever since.

To me, FCCLA means growth. The skills and experiences I've gained through this organization have helped me become who I am today. As I prepare to graduate this year, I am sad to see my FCCLA journey as a student member end, but I am confident that the skills I have gained will continue to serve me well in the "real world."

Join us in congratulating the 2022-2023 FCCLA / Knowledge Matters Virtual Business Challenge Round 2 Top 8 teams! These teams will compete in the National Championship Round from April 3-7, 2023. ❤️

The winning teams of the National Championship Round Challenge will receive National Leadership Conference travel awards of $1000 (1st place), $500 (2nd place), and $250 (3rd place) to attend the National Leadership Conference and participate in the Knowledge Matters exhibit to demonstrate the simulation and assist with simulation demonstrations.
