Traffic safety should not be something students simply hear about. It should be something they help shape!
That is why FCCLA is proud to be in Minneapolis for the 2026 Governors Highway Safety Association Annual Meeting, where highway safety leaders from across the country are coming together to advance safer roads and communities.
The partnership with GHSA means so much to FCCLA because GHSA, along with FCCLA’s other incredible traffic safety partners, understands the importance of having youth voice at the table. Students can influence their peers, identify challenges, develop solutions, and create real change.
FCCLA CEO Sandy Spavone and Development and Communications Director Abigail Lee are at Booth #308 ready to share how FCCLA brings traffic safety into Family and Consumer Sciences classrooms and turns education into action.
But do not just take their word for it! FCCLA youth leaders Logan Guynn and Ashland Roethlisberger are also in Minneapolis to share the student perspective firsthand.
Together, they are showing how FCCLA student leaders can take traffic safety messages further, turning education into action and helping make schools and communities safer.
And this is not new work for FCCLA. Since Families Acting for Community Traffic Safety (FACTS) launched in 2004, FCCLA has built more than two decades of experience helping students influence their peers, engage their communities, and make a measurable difference.
During the 2025-2026 school year alone, 6,564 FCCLA Members completed 291 youth-led traffic safety projects across 26 states, directly reaching 158,966 people, with more than 1.07 million additional people reached through public relations and media.
This week, that youth voice is also taking the general session stage!
On Monday, August 31, Logan Guynn will join Michelle Anderson, Director of Operations for The National Road Safety Foundation, for the Focus on Youth portion of "Slowing Speeding: How Active ISA Can Change Driver Behavior".
Logan participated in the Intelligent Speed Assistance project developed through FCCLA’s partnership with GHSA, the National Road Safety Foundation, and LifeSafer Ignition Interlock and will bring that experience to a national conversation about speeding, technology, and teen drivers.
Even more exciting, Logan is the only youth speaker taking the general session stage during the entire conference!
That is what meaningful partnership looks like: inviting students into the conversation, listening to their experiences, and recognizing their power to make a difference.
