The Heron Lake Public Library is a branch of the Jackson County Library System and a member of the Plum Creek Regional Library System. It is our mission to provide materials and programs to our communities, which support and promote education, culture, information, and entertainment.

There are fourteen new bestsellers, ten new movies, five new audiobooks, 34 new children's books, and 51 other new books, including seven that are available online.

The new bestsellers this week include "The Deal," "The Mistake," and "The Score." The new movies this week include "Solo Mio," "Shelter," and "Dracula."

The Friends of the Jackson County Library are now accepting donations for the annual Book Sale! Donations will be collected now through August 31 at the following locations: Historic State Theater in Jackson, Sunshine Foods in Jackson, Lakefield Library, and Heron Lake Library.

Donations of gently used Books, Audiobooks, DVD Movies, Music CDs, Games, and Puzzles are greatly appreciated! For large donations, please call the library and we will try to arrange a pick up time. Thank you all for your donations!

Registration is now open for the 2026 Summer Library Program! You can go online to jclmn.org/summer to register for your activity logs to keep learning and earning prizes this summer today or stop into the library or give the library a call (507-793-2641) tomorrow during open hours.

Craft Kits are also available, so stop in or call tomorrow to reserve yours! There are four age categories: Storytime (Toddler-entering PreK), Child (K-entering 4th Grade), Tween (entering 5th-7th Grade), and Teen (entering 8th-12th Grade) through Adult.

🌟 Adventure Awaits! 🌟 Join us for a library field trip to the Jeffers Petroglyphs on Tuesday, June 30th! πŸ“… Tweens and teens entering grades 5-12 in Fall 2026 can dive into history with our "Unearth a Story" summer program. 🏞️

Explore ancient rock carvings, learn about the atlatl, take a prairie walk, and visit a bison run and the Three Sisters garden. 🦬🌾

This free event includes lunch, but don't forget a signed waiver is needed by Friday, June 26th, 5 PM. πŸ“

The June Newsletter from the Jackson County Library System has dates and times for all of the great things we have planned, including information on a fun-filled summer library program!

June brings about the start of our Summer Library Program, Unearth a Story! Everyone can start registering to read and earn prizes for the summer starting on June 1. The newsletter has a preview of some of the fun, and for a full line up of events and the details for them, you can head to the summer page of our website, jclmn.org/summer.
