Crews arrived on scene minutes after dispatch to find a vehicle with heavy fire in the engine compartment. Crews quickly deployed a handline and extinguished the fire with no injuries reported. We are sad to announce the passing of Williamson County Fire Chief Jeremy Norris. Chief Norris fought valiantly through a battle with cancer. With Station 6 being headquarters, members of station 6 spent plenty of time with Chief Norris. Thank you for putting your upmost dedication in the district and always helping us move forward in the right direction. Chief, we will miss your jokes, wisdom, and company. We will continue to run out the doors and do the job you loved so much. We won’t let you down.

Rest easy Chief Norris.

Tonight our new drivers at Station 6 are working on their water shuttle skills. This scenario is made to imitate how we are able to flow water on fire scenes. When the scene doesn’t have hydrants nearby we have to shuttle water back and forth. Great job by all!!

Fighting rural fires can be very challenging, which is most of what we do. Most of the time we don’t have fire hydrants as close to the incident like you see in towns, or they don’t flow as much as the ones in town, so we have to drive our water to the incident. At Williamson County Fire we have 7 “Tenders” that we utilize for this.

Tonight, some of our new tender drivers did some training on backing into tight spaces and making sharp maneuvers, in preparation for backing into narrow driveways off a roadway and navigating obstacles in the roadway if need be. Job well done by all!
