The break has been fixed and a boil order has been issued to those affected by this break.

FYI There is a very large main break the water is shut off at the 100 and 200 blocks of North Elm.

Hey Herscher! 🇺🇸
We’re running a fundraiser to get a new 50-foot flagpole and large American flag installed in our village — including the pole, flag, concrete, electrical, and professional installation.
The Legion Auxiliary has already donated $3,400 and the Village is matching it. If we fall a little short, we’ll get the tallest pole we can fully install. Any extra money raised will go toward landscaping or to the Legion Community Center.

A set of keys were found at Village Park, if you are missing keys they are at the Herscher Police Department or you can pick them up at Village Hall Monday- Friday 8a-3p.

Here is the garage sale list, if you want a copy you can pick them up at Dollar General, Casey's, Village Hall or the Grocery store. Garage sales are May 8-9, some do start on Thursday and some do Sunday. Please look at the flyer for dates and times that people are doing their garage sales.

Large Garbage Pickup will be Saturday May 16th. Please have items out by 5am.
The unacceptable list includes:
E-Waste (televisions and monitors)
Hazardous materials (batteries, paint (unless dried up), insecticides, gasoline, motor oil, antifreeze, etc…)
Heavy material (concrete, gravel, brick, dirt, large automotive parts)
Miscellaneous items (tires/wood, large amounts of building and construction debris, yard waste)

Tornado Siren Testing (Wednesday, April 22nd at 10:00 AM)

Be Advised: The Kankakee County Emergency Dispatch (KanComm) will conduct a test of the county’s tornado siren system today, April 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.

This is only a test to verify the functionality of the sirens. If you are outdoors at the time of the test and do not hear the siren(s) in your area, please contact your local government agency.
