Derry Township’s Annual National Night Out is scheduled for Tuesday, August 3rd, 2021 from 6PM-8PM in the 1st block of West Caracas Avenue. Come join us, meet your neighbors, and help celebrate community unity against crime! We have already heard from some of our past groups who are going to host a table at the event, but there are tables still available. We can always use volunteers as well. Business or Community Groups interested in hosting a table or wanting to volunteer should contact Officer Rebecca Kessler or Sergeant Darren Cotten at 717-534-2202 (extensions 3106 and 3094) by June 11, 2021. You can also email them at [email protected] or [email protected]. We are looking forward to seeing some familiar and new faces that we missed so very much with the cancellation last year!

As we tried to express how much we appreciate the tremendous support we receive from our community in our previous post, we wanted to show just a little bit of what we are talking about. People like Caitlin, Nora, Kaylee and the Hoxha family brought some things in for our Officers and Staff during National Police Week. Things like water bottles, doughnuts, snacks, macarons, and Baklava. It is very much appreciated and it affirms Why we were called to serve...to protect and serve our community. Thank you!💙

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed into law designating May 15th as Peace Officer’s Memorial Day. This also designated the week within which May 15th falls as National Police Week. During this time, we reflect on the sacrifices law enforcement officers across our nation make each and every day in their attempt to make their communities a safe place to live, work and play. Some of these officers have paid the ultimate sacrifice and gave their last full measure for their calling. It is our duty and honor to remember those women and men in order they never be forgotten. Those of us who are left behind to continue with this extremely difficult and dangerous job wish to take this moment to thank those who committed their entire being to this noble profession. The women and men of the Derry Township Police Department also pause to honor and remember one of our own, Michael L. Henry, Jr., whose End of Watch was on January 2, 2020. We miss you Mike and will continue to do the best we can, to carry on. We also want to thank our community, who we are blessed to have, and from whom we receive a great amount of support. You are why we do what we do. Thank you!

General Message Alert -
Some schools in our area are making it possible for their high school seniors to have Prom this year, which is really great! With Prom, come the photo ops prior to the Prom. Everybody wants to get those awesome photos at a picturesque location. There are some locations, locally, that are not fully open to the public and are still under property access restrictions. We are asking those who are trying to get those perfect photo shoots to either look out for signage that would prohibit being on the property or ask ahead of time if you would be permitted to be on somebody else's property to take your Prom photos. And, as always, please be safe, don't drive distracted and don't drink and drive. We want you to have an awesome time at Prom and be able to talk about it for years to come!
