I appreciated the opportunity to tour Kaiser Permanente’s Hesperia medical facility and learn more about the work their team is doing to serve patients in our community. Access to quality health care is essential, and I was grateful for the chance to hear directly from their leadership and staff about how they are working to meet the needs of local families.

I enjoyed visiting the new Hesperia High School Center for the Arts and seeing the incredible opportunities students in our community have to develop their creativity and talents. Programs like this equip students with skills that will serve them well long after graduation.

I enjoyed speaking with Congressional Gold Medal award winners about the opportunities artificial intelligence can create for the next generation. AI is a tool young people can learn to use to solve problems, strengthen their skills, increase their productivity, and improve their lives. As this technology continues to develop, it is important that we equip our youth with the skills they will need to succeed in the AI-powered workplace of tomorrow.

California is the only state in the country still carrying an outstanding federal unemployment insurance loan balance, forcing every employers in our state to pay higher federal payroll taxes because Sacramento continues to fail to repay its debt. That is why I am cosponsoring Rep. Vince Fong’s CAL Act to require states to use eligible federal funds they receive to pay down these debts before spending the money elsewhere. California small businesses, farmers, and workers should not be left paying the price for our state’s mismanagement.
