I enjoyed speaking with Congressional Gold Medal award winners about the opportunities artificial intelligence can create for the next generation. AI is a tool young people can learn to use to solve problems, strengthen their skills, increase their productivity, and improve their lives. California is the only state in the country still carrying an outstanding federal unemployment insurance loan balance, forcing every employers in our state to pay higher federal payroll taxes because Sacramento continues to fail to repay its debt. That is why I am cosponsoring Rep. Vince Fong’s CAL Act to require states to use eligible federal funds they receive to pay down these debts before spending the money elsewhere. California small businesses, farmers, and workers should not be left paying the price for our state’s mismanagement.
