Hesston Fire/EMS Our primary response area encompasses 75 square miles. We respond to roughly 1000 calls per year. ISO Class 3

Hesston Fire/EMS provides fire protection and emergency medical assistance to approximately 5000 residents within the City of Hesston and portions of Harvey and McPherson Counties. Hesston has a combination department comprised of a full-time Chief, Administrative Specialist, Fire Marshal, Operations Officer, Training Coordinator and 20 paid-per-call volunteers. We provide mutual aid to all of Har

vey County (six departments in total, population 33,843) as well as parts of McPherson, Marion, Butler and Sedgwick Counties.

After almost five years of service in the department, we say goodbye to FTO Alisha Dorsing. Alisha came to Hesston Fire/EMS from Hesston College. During her time, she earned her EMT and firefighter certifications. She also moved to the rank of FTO (Field Training Officer).

Thank you for your dedicated service to the community. Best wishes for your future!

We had a busy summer, and over the next week, we’ll be catching up with all the personnel changes within the department.

After almost nine years of service in the department, we said goodbye to Captain Gracie Hochstetler. Gracie came to the department from Hesston College as an EMT, eventually earning her firefighter certifications and Paramedic certification. She also moved up the ranks from line staff, to Lieutenant, then Captain.

Thank you for your dedicated service to the community. Best wishes for your future journey!

Monday night, we spent the evening training on search and rescue techniques. A big thank you to USD 460 for allowing us to use their facility for this training. We appreciate the partnership and the opportunity to continue building the skills needed to serve our community.
