With school starting back, let's all remember to be careful, stay off your cell phones in the school zones and be attentive to all the children around. Also expect more traffic then normal, especially in the school zones.
Hope everyone has a terrific and safe 2018-2019 school year!!

While the recent focus nationwide has been protecting students from violence on-campus, with the school year starting, local police are also trying to keep students safe on their way to-and-from campus.

Hewitt Police Association is at the special called meeting tonight in Hewitt IN SUPPORT OF CITY MANAGER ADAM MILES. Alot of talk recently of employees being to scared of the department heads to say anything. Absolutely false we can walk into any office at anytime and say anything to them. It will be a huge mistake if Adam Miles is fired.

So yesterday HPA went down to the coast to drop off donations for agencies in that area. HPA would like to thank Keith's ACE Hardware on Hewitt dr. And Do it Best distribution on Hewitt dr. For the generous donations. Y'all are awesome and the supplies were greatly needed and appreciated.
We have all seen the pictures from the Rockport area but pictures do not show enough. The destruction is surreal, and heartbreaking. People have been bustin it on cleanup and appeared in good spirits but the hurt and worrisome is still with them. They don't appear to be letting it hold them down, they are coming together as strangers and neighbors and becoming friends and family. They are showing why being a Texan is an honor and how an American should act. Let's not forget these small beautiful coastal gems. Lets all make sure to help and donate as we can.

The HPA has partnered with Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas, CLEAT in accepting donations for first responders whos homes have been affected by Hurricane Harvey. Many of these officers have not been able to return to their homes due to them working and trying to save others and many have lost their homes.
