Check out some of these new large print mysteries!
* A Christmas Witness by Charles Todd - This book is an Inspector Ian Rutledge novella and is based in 1921 when the inspector is assigned to investigate an alleged attempt on the life of a lord. The man said he was struck by the hoof of a running horse whose rider never stopped and is convinced this was an attempt on his life. As the investigation gets underway, Investigator Rutledge realizes there are a lot of similarities between his life and the man he is sent to protect.
* The Killer Question by Janice Hallett - Reviews say the rug will be yanked again and again in this masterpiece of plotting by the “new queen of crime.” This mystery will keep you on the edge of your seat as the clues begin to get unveiled at a pub’s weekly trivia night after a body is found in the nearby river.
* My Fair Frauds - by Lee Kelly and Jennifer Thorne. The Grand Duchess of Wurrtemberg is a con woman, who is out for revenge against the five ruthless robber barons who destroyed her family. Her emerald mines are a sham, as well, and with the help of a drifter named Cora and an insider and society maestro Ward, the three launch into the social season of 1884 in Germany and start ensnaring the Duchess’ targets, one by one.

ALA is heartbroken at the passing of country music legend, cultural icon, and champion of literacy Dolly Parton.

Dolly’s award-winning Imagination Library initiative, inspired by her father’s inability to read or write, has put hundreds of millions of free books into the hands of children across America and was considered by her to be one of her greatest achievements.

“We’re giving books to kids who wouldn’t have a chance to get them otherwise,” she told American Libraries in a 2018 interview. “A lot of people think this is just for poor children—it’s for all children. It’s important to get books into the hands of any child that we can.”

ALA was proud to confer Dolly with an honorary lifetime membership, the Association’s highest honor, in 2023 for her lasting impact on librarianship, libraries, and the communities they serve.

Dolly was also part of ALA’s Celebrity READ campaign, in which she holds a copy of 'The Little Engine That Could.'

“I’ve always related to that book because I’m the little engine that did!” she said.

Thank you, Dolly. ❤️
