Due to the high winds today, the Township Operator will not blade any roads until the wind subdues. Once again, the Operator is in constant contact with the Brown County Sheriffs Office and all emergency personnel in case of an emergency. If you live in the Township and need to get out or home, please call our Operator at 785-547-6691. Please be patient as the weather is out of our control.

With the weather system moving into our area, the snow clearing routes are as follows:

The Hiawatha Township is split into four quarters. Due to the history of bigger drifts in the northeast quarter, the Operator will begin his route there. From that point, he moves in a circle to the southeast then over to the southwest and finally the northwest quarter. When the Operator has one pass all the way around, he’ll start back in the northeast quarter widen the path and moving all the way back around to the northwest quarter in his circle. The Operator is in constant contact with emergency personnel and the Brown County Sheriffs Office in case of an emergency. Please be patient as our Operator works as fast and safely as he can.

If it would only rain we could get on the roads and work. Much too dry now, dragging the roads now would only make them worse.
