📚 OK, HIBBING … THIS TIME WE’RE SURE. 😉

We are officially ready to welcome you back!

After a little more time than anticipated was needed to get our site back in order following recent abatement work, the doors are ready to reopen TOMORROW (Wednesday, Sept. 2).

And yes — we checked twice this time.

We sincerely appreciate your patience, flexibility and good humor throughout the extended closure (and our brief reopening false alarm!). We know how much our community values the Library, and we wanted to make sure the space was truly ready before welcoming everyone back.

There is still more exciting work ahead as the renovation continues, including ADA restroom improvements and the creation of a new Technology Hub — but for now:

Come on back. We’re open. We mean it this time.

UPDATE 4:45 p.m. Friday --

📚HIBBING PUBLIC LIBRARY REOPENING DELAYED

We need to make a correction to our earlier announcement regarding our reopening.

While the necessary abatement work has been completed, the Library is not yet ready to reopen to the public on Monday, Aug. 31, as previously announced.

As staff began preparing the building for reopening, it became clear that additional cleanup, organization and restoration of the space is needed following the recent construction and abatement work. We want to make sure the Library is ready to safely and comfortably welcome patrons back before reopening the doors.

The Library will remain closed until further notice. We will share a new reopening date as soon as we are confident the building is ready.

We apologize for announcing the reopening prematurely and for any inconvenience this change may cause. We know our community is eager to get back into the Library, and we appreciate your continued patience as we get everything back in place.

We'll keep you posted — and next time, we'll make sure the bookshelves are ready before we sound the reopening bell.

******************************************

Good news, Hibbing! We are just about ready to welcome you back!

We will reopen at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31, following the extended closure for asbestos abatement work associated with the ongoing renovation project.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while this necessary work was completed. The renovation will ultimately bring improved ADA-accessible restrooms and a new Technology Hub to the Library, expanding access to technology, learning opportunities and community resources.

📖 Doors open Monday — we’ll see you at the Library!

And perhaps most importantly: you may now return to your regularly scheduled browsing, borrowing and book-hoarding. 😉
