The closure allows for additional asbestos abatement and mitigation work as part of an upcoming renovation project.

❓Weren't you recently closed for a short time for that purpose?
Yes, we were and have discovered additional work that needs to be done without the public present.

📚 Will library services be available?
No. All services and programming will be paused during this short closure.

👶 What about scheduled programs and events?
All programs during this time are canceled.

🏗️ What improvements are coming?
The project will support a new Technology Hub with expanded access to computers, learning spaces, and more, along with accessibility upgrades to the facility.

⏳ When will the library reopen?
The library is expected to reopen following completion of this abatement work.

We've got stickers for sale thanks to the Friends of the Hibbing Public Library! Stop in and grab one!

📚✨ Exciting things are coming to support literacy and more in our community!

The Friends of the Hibbing Public Library are slowly adding fun new items you can grab to show your support. Right now, we have stickers available, and coming soon we’ll be adding Bob Dylan Drive signs and stickers!

Everything will be available at the Hibbing Public Library, so be sure to stop in and check them out. Your support helps promote literacy and so many other great causes in our community! 💙

CLOSURE AHEAD: we will be temporarily closed for two additional days to complete unforeseen abatement work. Those dates are Monday, May 4, and Tuesday, May 5.

Although we recently reopened, this additional work is necessary to ensure everything is completed safely and thoroughly.

We understand this may be frustrating and sincerely appreciate your continued patience. We look forward to reopening on Wednesday, May 6.

Poetry and Printmaking with Shelley Getten
Hibbing Public Library
Monday, May 4, 2026

Join Shelley Getten for poetry and printmaking art as she shares the challenges and joys of growing up on a Minnesota farm. As Getten reads from her book, Of Cows and Crows, she will discuss how the creative writing process can bring insight and healing. Getten will demonstrate block art printmaking so attendees can watch and learn about making original relief art. Bookmarks will be shared with audience members to take home.
This program is one hour long and is appropriate for adults, teens, and children 8 years and up.

This program, sponsored by Arrowhead Library System, was funded in part or in whole with money from Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund (ACHF).
