Join the Fulton County Long-Term Recovery Committee
Fulton County Judge Executive Jim Martin working with others is re-establishing the Fulton County Long-Term Recovery Committee (LTRC). After the 2021 tornado that damaged multiple homes in Fulton County and disrupted the lives of many. We established the LTRC to assist with recovery from the impact of the tornado. Since then, the committee has ceased to function as members moved out of the county or went on to other community projects. Fulton County is working on a plan for community resiliency and Judge Martin wants to bring new life back to the Long-Term Recovery Committee.
Martin said, when disaster strikes, the immediate response is only the beginning to recovery. True recovery takes time, coordination, and a heart for service. The LTRC will be the backbone of this effort, providing a permanent structure to support our neighbors long after the initial emergency ends.
The renewed LTRC will transition into a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization designed to bridge the gap between disaster survivors and the resources they need.
The LTRC will:
Work directly with impacted individuals to identify and meet unmet needs.
Oversee recovery funds and grants to ensure they are used effectively within our county.
Serve as the local liaison for organizations like FEMA, Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, Samaritan’s Purse, and various regional religious and disaster-relief groups.
Judge Martin is seeking community-minded individuals who are passionate about the welfare of Fulton County. Whether you have experience in social services, construction, finance, faith-based outreach, or simply a desire to give back, your voice is needed.
Martin said, “We are looking for members who are:
Committed to the long-term well-being of all residents.
Willing to collaborate with diverse regional and national partners.
Mindful of the needs of the most vulnerable and underprivileged members of our community.
The Resiliency Plan anticipates potential disaster and how we will react to such disasters. It anticipates tornados, earthquakes, flooding, and bluff failures among other potential hazards. If you are interested in participating in the Long-Term Recovery process for Fulton County, let Judge Martin know by emailing at [email protected] or calling 270-236-2594. Let’s work together to ensure that we are prepared for the next disaster and that no citizens’ needs are left unmet.
The newly created LTRC currently has seven members, and the regular meetings are at 3pm on the last Tuesday of each month at the county office building at 2216 Myron Drive in Hickman. The next meeting is April 28, 2026.
