Scattered to numerous thunderstorms will be possible ahead of a cold front making passage Thursday afternoon and early evening. The greatest threat will be over west Kentucky. Damaging winds will be the primary concern.

It will be much later today, probably after dark, before these storms reach us. Be alert to changing weather conditions and be prepared to seek shelter if storms develop.

6/13/2026 12:35 pm: Here's a look at timing on the line of strong to severe storms moving into southeast MO this afternoon. These storms have produced gusts to 50 mph with gusts to 60 mph as they approach Carter and Ripley County. If you click on the image the city names will show up better. Stay safe!!!

Attention Lake County Citizens: Please be advised that an inmate has escaped from the Lake County Jail.

Name: Ryan Benson
Height: 6’07”
Weight: 234 lbs.
Last Known Clothing Description: Black pants, black shirt, and a white hoodie.

The subject is considered armed and dangerous at this time. Direction of travel is currently unknown.

Residents are urged to remain alert and use caution. Do not approach or attempt to make contact with the individual. If you see Ryan Benson or have any information regarding his whereabouts, please call 911 immediately or contact the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

There will be an increased law enforcement presence throughout Lake County as agencies actively work to locate the individual and ensure public safety.

We have another hot and humid day on tap today followed by the potential for a few severe storms later this evening into the overnight. Looks like a low end event though as storms are expected to be weakening as they push into our area. Another round of thunderstorms is possible Saturday into Saturday night, including a few stronger storms and the potential for heavy rain which may cause some flooding concerns. Here is our latest

Today is expected to be the second of three days with high
temperatures stretching into the low to mid 90s with oppressive
humidity values. Heat index values of 100 to 105 are forecast area
wide. With this being the first strong heat wave of the season be
particularly alert to heat related illness potential and take the
necessary action to protect yourself.
